I thought they gave a poor effort, but if you add in the blocked FG and the potential Whitmer return for a TD, the game could have been tied.

Yep. Just seemed set that nothing was gonna go our way.

The fact is yesterday he played like s**t and was the MAIN reason we lost the game.
Wrong. The defense was the reason we lost the game.
Everybody shares the blame - team and coaches.
Smith is far from the MAIN reason that the team lost, however. Our D could not tackle for crap yesterday....which is very uncharacteristic. That led to long drives and ToP by Mini.

Once Ponder ran in for the TD, I knew we were beaten. Let's hope we can rebound. I'm not sure I can handle another disappointing loss. What is it with playing in Minnesota, dammit!

Agree. Great job as usual Marvin49! I do believe this team is gonna be ready to play next week for sure. Just glad it happened now and not later on. Is it next Sunday yet?

I think it was the Singletary effect. When he was coaching the 9ers they would always come out flat like they did yesterday!

Yep... Ponder was just bursting with confidence yesterday after starting out abusing our defense... so that by the 2nd half, he was just possessed and playing well beyond the norm. These guys are human after all. They start out hot, they can really "take on the world."

I told people that would listen, that this was a TRAP game! After two emotional victories and beating the Vikes handilly in the pre-season, this is a game that could sneek up and bite us in the a$$! And it did! With that said I don't believe any team will go 16-0 this year! We just need to take care of win ning our Division First, Conference Second, and the rest of the NFL Teams Third and everything will fall into place. I am more concerned about our lack of pass rush QB pressure by our vaunted D and poor O line play by our O than running around saying that the sky is falling at this point! Now if these trends continue then we better start worrying?

I went to the bathroom after the blocked field goal and not long after heard cheering while in line. By the sound of it I could tell it wasn't a TD but still, just another bad omen from inside the building.

Vikings previous 2 games their defense allowed
23/39 260 yards 2tds to Gabbert 2nd year player
20/31 224 yard 2td to Luck Rookie
and our boy Smith
24/35 204 yards 1td 1int
That vikings defense is straight crap and for him to be a 8 year pro and by some on this site called an elite qb(lol) he should have had a much better game.

It's not gloom and doom..... BUT there were several things that annoyed the crap out of me yesterday!!
1) Smith not taking shots down field early in the game when they stacked 8+ in the box. He made nice adjustments last week at the LOS, but didn't do much to succeed with this yesterday. He seemed to hold onto the ball a little too long yesterday and could have thrown a few away to avoid sacks!
2) Not getting our D off the field when we put them in 3rd and long. Time and time again it seemed that they converted these when we really needed to get off the field.
3) Smith missing Moss open on crossing route and in the endzone for 7!!
4) Whitner dropping a pick 6!!! Willis was going to block for him but Whitner dropped it......
There probably are others and the sky isn't falling but yesterday just wasn't our day and look for Harbaugh to kick this team in the a$$ before we leave for NY.

LOL.
Different season, same Sus.
Alex didn't have a great game. It happens. He had 2 great games to start the season. You act like he has never improved from the guy he was 2 or 3 years ago. I think its time to LET IT GO.
Its like you have just been waiting for him to screw up so you could say "See!! Look. I told you he sucks!!".
Do you really want to be right on this one?
