At this point in their careers, Moss and TO can probably provide similar skills and experience. But the difference is the Niners were proactive at signing Moss and allowing him to aid in the development of the entire WR before FA period began, giving them an ace in the hole for FA and the draft. The Seahawks, on the other hand, don't target the position until camp. Realize that Mike Williams can't make the cut, then scrambling to sign Edwards and TO; essentially the Seahawks were being reactive whereas the Niners were being proactive.
The difference is a front office that knows what it needs and knows when and how to secure the assets necessary to be successful. In a copycat league, they get copied, not copying others!!

Excellent thread.
And what is go awesome about his plan, is that players have to buy in for it to work. You can't just get a starting-level or close to starting-level player to sign on to a team who is already filled with talent at the position, unless they know they're going to be able to compete and be apart of something great.

The CK bashing might be more genius than anything Harbaugh or Walsh has ever done. I've never seen a player take so many shots across the bow in so many different ways.

The whole WZ has turned into a smoke screen to hate CK.
Just say he sucks etc, like people have done for any other player they don't like; but involving the coaches? Suggesting that they're lying about the "real" depth chart? I've never seen that happen before, and we're not talking about just one post. Its kind of scary, people are in shock that he would still be ahead of Tolzien; and they are really really reaching.

I think that post went over your head. It was a clever and subtle jab at how obsessed we get with things like "we need to draft position x this year!". In reality the draft is a crapshoot, players don't often contribute much before their third season and there are much better ways of putting together a great unit. We may have the best set of 4 CBs of any team in the league, with no 1st or 2nd rounders that we drafted ourselves.
Great observation NickSh49!

Agree with most of that, especially the part about the backup qb, I'll withold the "genius" label however until he leads us to a ring, heck Walsh won 3 SB's. I love JH but he's gotta win at least one before he's mentioned in the same scentence as the great Hall Of Famer Bill Walsh, arguably top 3 in NFL coaching history

Harbaugh also surrounded himself with brilliant people. The dirty little secret outside the Bay Area is that we have an elite staff to go with Harbaugh and outstanding talent.

I dont know if Hearstfan was bashing Kap, but I kinda see what you mean, although I'd say its more people being extremley high on Tolzien. He played well, but the fact is that is really was against 3rd stringers, half of which probably wont even make the practice squad. I'd say Tolzien Looks like a good system qb, like a Kevin Kolb (pre arizona). JH is not stupid, Injuries are a very real possibility and I dont think he would say Kap is #2 if he didnt think we could win with him. Not to mention Harbaugh and the coaching staff has been watching this guys for months, we're making our fanbased determinations from watching one pre season game.
