Justin Smith Contract Named One Of The Best In NFL

Did the author not realize that J.Smith is not a DE in a 4-3 but rather a DE in a 3-4. The positions are not the same and the expectations of a Campbell or a Pepper is not the same as Smith. I believe Smith is a beast, but you don't pay a DE in a 3-4 17mil.

This is ridiculous.

I love how hes getting the recognition that he deserves, but at the same time, he himself is just so passionate about the team coming together for a run at the CHAMPIONSHIP. And all he does is get to work every day and continue to better himself--if thats even possible. Hes already a champion. I hope this is our year for him and all our others.

Hes not all hes cracked up to be. on the field he is a beast. Outside of that he isnt much of the people person from what i have seen. Ive seen him blow off a dude saying hi, 2 hours before a game before they even put on pads or jerseys.. funny thing is he was repping Justin Smith and was by far the only one in indianapolis wearing #94 Justin Smith jersey.. He seems like the standoffish type.

Did the cardinals switch back to 4-3 defense? I agree with your post but I thought the tards still tried running a 3-4 defense.

That sounds like an accurate description for a man all about business, but I would still like to shake his hand.

Great pick up for us. Man - did we get our money's worth.

First class guy and excellent player.

He'll be resigned. For how much - that's the question.

One thinng foor sure - yyou won't get any BS games from him llike te other prima donnas in the NFL.
I cant wait to watch him rip some heads off this year
The low contract number means that the team does not value him highly.

Durr.

Only underrated because BY was playing DT before people were giving huge props to amazing players at that position.

Same for Justin. 3-4 DEs have traditionally been an afterthought. His ability to do what he does from that position is what makes him so special.

Overall though, SO GLAD Smith is getting the national recognition he deserves. Hypothetically, if he and Willis were both 27 and we could only keep one, I don't think that's an easy conversation. (although Bowman makes it easier, not to tip my hand ).

Yeah i don't care how he treats fans.

I care how he treats offensive lineman.
I'm seeing a pattern...Baalke doesn't seem to value guys named Smith! Maybe they are just too common!

Seriously, whether he is a 3/4 or a 4/3 he plays every down and deserves to be paid as an elite DLman...regardless of label.
Thread meant to do nothing but encite. Mods been in here and not saying anything.

Ladies and gentlemen....the hypocrisy of WZ.

Its only inciting if you agree with the message. OP is comparing apples to oranges.

What did we initially sign him for? You forget the courting we did for him. But yeah, I'm sure we will "low ball" him when it comes time to renegotiate.

I recall this contract was after he was still under the radar and SF fans were saying things like "this guy better be good"

"The San Franciso 49ers signed defensive end Justin Smith to a six-year, $45 million contract that included $20 million in guarantees."

Again, no comparison to Alex's measly QB contract with very little security.
