This happened to my wife about three months ago not far from our house . . . except she drilled the deer and jacked-up our mini-van.

That's what I'm talking about. Even if deer
Nothing wrong with the incident. The dumbest part was this from Aldon ....

"Everybody's good," Smith said when asked about the driver's condition. "We all walked away from it. The only thing messed up was the car."

The driver suffered a broken back. Can't walk away from that

actually you can.
ive walked away from a broken leg.
actually had my leg broken in 2 places at the same time and didnt know it.
i thought it was just a deep bruise.
Until visiting my GF who works for my Dr convinced me to see him where he told me i had 2 hairline fractures
i could either deal with the pain or wear a cast.
i said ill deal with the pain (as i already had been for a month on 1 part and a week and a half on the other.

Hurt for about another month, month and a half maybe. now its pain free.

well unless i touch it or something then i remember . but this has been like 3 months now.

The article said a broken back:

The unidentified driver of the car sustained a broken back after allegedly swerving to avoid a deer, according to CHP spokesman D.J. Sarabia. The driver was transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center, and Smith was taken to Stanford Hospital to receive "a few stitches" for a cut above an eye.

Broken back is an incredibly vague description. It could mean PARALYZED but it could also mean CRACKED VERTEBRAE..........
Aldon, can you just stay out of jail and out of car crashes as long as you are a productive player on the niners? If you leave the team, or start being old and s*itty down the road, do whatever you want. We won't care. Thanks.

it would have killed you.

I have been in lock and step with my friend san diego about aldon, his owi and stabbing but i really do give him a pass here for the reasons that have already been stated. It bothers me just a bit that he did not show much concern in his comments to his driver who had a broken back but not tragically.this is the number one time of the year for car deer accidents, the highway patrol sounds like they have cleared it so i think its a non story. bad luck, bad timing but thats about it to me.from the many comments made i have learned that you guys out in cal. have the same deer issues we have in iowa. its always fun to learn something new. two years ago this month i clipped a big buck who was running across the road, just clipped his leg , luckily, i still ended up with a broken passenger side headlight and minor bumper damage. damn bambi

Uhhh... deer. No alcohol. Deer (as is plural). Lot's of them. Running around the east foothills.

DUI in his first incident.

Ok. But isn't that like posting "Alex Smith sucks" in the Alex Smith thread. Then you get flamed, and then you reply, "I was talking about that one game in 2008."

No, perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I was talking about all the luck he seems to have because he's still alive after all of these incidents.
Most of you must not drive in areas where deers are an everyday occurance. They often jump out litterally at the last second in front of a car. They are not very bright animals. There are times of the year here where the Police dept spends more time and resources on putting down wounded deer on the side of the road than they do writing tickets and DUI's.

Yes he is lucky he wasnt injured, as fatality are very common with hitting a deer, especially in smaller vehicles, where often times the deer carcass goes right through the front windshield.

I agree his comments about the accident were a bit immature, but at the same time he may have been a bit frustrated that media was trying to take a non story and run with it, maybe defensive because of that, knowing that he had the two booboo's previous... which i was critical of as well, but this is a non story.

Anyways, glad he is safe

Agree, could have been one in his neck, from the head moving foward at a high rate. And whoever said they have a broken leg should get the cast. It keeps you from moving it, and it takes the weight and transfers it around the fractures helping to heal faster in a month, rather you didn't and it's taken 3 months, and still have pain. I'm not a doctor, just broken a s**t ton of bones, I was a busy little boy lol

Matt Maiocco ‏@MaioccoCSN After review, NFL credited Aldon Smith with an additional half-sack. He and Ray McDonald shared sack of Stafford. A.Smith now has 2.5 sacks.

It is official. Here is the link.

That is 1.25 sacks a game. That puts him on a pace to have 20 sacks for the year.

It is early in the season, but he has played the run well and dropped into coverage.

It looks like he will become a solid outside linebacker.

Now, he just needs to make better off field choices. Although the car wreck was clearly not his fault, I still find it bothersome.
