I don't know what's hard about it but the fact that it's enough to get you arrested and pay a huge fine with possible jail time is absolutely f**ktarded. Really speaks to the nations hysterical paranoia and pussification.
So somebody saying they have a bomb shouldn't be taken seriously?
When it's obvious that they don't? Not necessarily.
It's one thing if he was running around or in the center of a big crowd saying he had a bomb (or gun, knife, weapon, etc...) but as far as we know just one TSA agent said that he indicated he had a bomb in what seems to be a sarcastic tone.
Unless they recorded him saying it there's an obvious lack of evidence to show that he said it.
Sarcasm or not, you don't say it...it's really not that hard. You're crazy if you think TSA agents are given that kind of latitude, to interpret "tone"...have you seen some of these people? I wouldn't trust some of them to wash my car. If they hear you say "bomb", you will go away in handcuffs.
And that's the problem. If Aldon said he had a bomb, yes it was stupid, but just because you say something stupid doesn't mean you should be arrested or thrown in jail or in the national spotlight.
There's such thing as context...an abundance of empirical evidence proves beyond any doubt that commercial aircraft and airports are indeed prime targets for terrorism. Flying is an anxiety-inducing activity for many people, even before considering the possibility someone just might want to kill every person on your flight. So I'm gonna disagree with you, because if someone is so obtuse, so stupid, so entitled to think they're going to joke about having a bomb at an airport/on a plane, that person absolutely deserves going to jail. The judges, lawyers, and juries can work it out if someone was just being "sarcastic", but I don't want that idiot on my flight.
