"Looks -- superficially at least -- a lot like Aldon Smith"

No. 48 on defense, outside linebacker Kourtnei Brown, looks -- superficially at least -- a lot like Aldon Smith, who was wearing No. 48 at the beginning of last year's training camp. Both are tall with long legs and very long arms. Smith didn't jump out until full contact drills began in training camp, (and he later switched to No. 99). As of now, contact is forbidden in practice, and it's hard to say anything definitive about the young linemen and linebackers. But Brown certainly looks the part.

Brown has a much better chance now that Flemming was injured. Maybe he's a diamond in the rough.

Not expecting much. Brown, like most will agree, looks the part physically, but isn't ready when it comes to the other aspects of the game. We'll see what the coaches can do, but Brown looks like a longer-term developmental guy. I like his chances of eventually making the team in a couple years though when Haralson goes.
