ABs early 53 man and 8 man P-Squad roster prediciton

Keep in mind its hard to find special team safetys that weigh 200+lbs and run 4.3s. If the team has other options with that kind of speed he may be expendable.
Great work AB....

...and glad to see you included Nathan Palmer on the PS... Seems he may have some real potential. You obviously did your homework when you put this together....

I can't really disagree with any of your roster choices because I know you have good reasons for them.

I do wonder however, if the Niners will find another return guy somewhere amongst their rookies who will push Ginn off of the roster and allow room for a surprise choice. Obviously, Ginn demonstrated his ST value last year but he didn't give the team much as a receiver. I'm sure that the Niners, now that they have added all that talent (not to mention speed) at the WR position, would prefer to find a return specialist amongst the guys who are a bit more versatile...and versatility is a quality I know they value very highly. Then again, Ginn is one of the best in the league at what he does... This decision is the one that to me is a wild card. Somewhere on this roster we will find a surprise or two. The question is...where?

To sum up.....that is one stacked roster. Some good players are going to get cut and then get picked up by other teams. When was the last time we saw that from a Niner team?

Cheers!
Oh....one more thing. I think the Niners have switched Nelms to safety, a position of need for the team....more so than CB at this point anyway.

Cheers!

I agree for the most part, but I couldn't see us going without at least one OL on the PS, if not two. Depending on the pre-season, I think we will end up with at least one OL on the practice squad. I also think if Holland stays healthy, he has a better than 50-50 shot to make the squad.

Gave you all those props AB and now I have to take a small one back... I do agree that the Niners will stash an OL guy on the PS....

Question for you, OTC and other vets......will the Niners try to trade Haralson, K Williams, A Dixon, and/or Tolzien before training camp?.....during camp? Or, do you think they will simply be cut?
Good stuff AB.... as for practice squad they change them like we change our underwear. In one day out the next but I would agree at least 1 OL but I like the other guys and your roster. It would be tough to cut Parys but I think they want to get Fleming and Johnson on the roster. Johnson might be too good of a prospect to put on the PS and it's hard to believe a 5th rounder (even though you hate to bring that up) will be cut.

I'd be worried about not having an experienced OLB on the bench. Even though he is overpriced for a back up, I'd rather have Haralson than Jacobs.

And great post, AB!

I would rather keep haralson over Jacobs. he would be our 4th RB, if he was active he would have to play ST which i dont think he has ever done. Haralson would be a better ST player and I think he has more value as a backup. but other than that I like your roster!

Nice post.

various sources and media outlets, and I keep a Excel sheet with all info on all players contracts.

gotta get my hands on that
Forgot to add... isn't it nice having so little dead money? Remember the days of 5-7+ million? And back to the roster I think the most interesting areas will be the OLB (Haralson, Fleming, Johnson) and if we go 6 WRs. RBs could get interesting as well...
Great info as usual AB, thanks! I would like to see a vet back up at OLB rather than two rookies but they may be too good to risk losing them and many are not high on Haralson. Having two rookies and Aldon would be somewhat lacking in NFL experience...I trust the coaches though as they will be making these tough decisions.

It is so great to see talent on the PS! The 9ers are becoming a team other teams look towards for cuts...nice!
Great read and thread. Haralson is a must keep though IMO! If one of our outside backers goes down (knock on wood they dont) but if they do I don't much care for our depth after Haralson and he played starter caliber football last season. That insurance is worth what he's getting paid and then some. Especially when you consider he started last year making slightly over backup money.
Whew!

That's a lot of work - Thanks.

We are really stacked - not perfect but it's been a long time since we were this solid.

Not a fan of Harrelson AND do see the point of his experience if someone goes down. Hoping Cam Johnson can develop fast.

And there are still the surprise roster cuts from other teams.

I can see this going in either way. It really just depends on what the rookie rush LBs show us throughout preseason. If either looks like he can fill in competently, then keeping Haralson makes little sense. Also curious to know how sharp Kilgore looks at C. If he is looking good there, we can afford to stash Slowey on the PS.
