the the signing of josh johnson today will someone like Colin Kaepernick be traded for a draft pick? If the 49ers are in a win now phase will he be traded for a 2nd round pick and a 6th? what are your thoughts? It does make you think..........it could happen!

Nope. It's competition for camp. We'll have 4 going into camp and Tolzien is the most likely not to beat JJ for a spot.
Why would we give up on Kaepernick already? We traded up for him and have only seen him take a very limited amount of snaps.

I was Thinking that as soon as I saw Johnson signed. Johnson knows the coaches offense, so Kaepernick to me can be traded. The 49ers should move up and grab Fleener. If we can trade with the Browns for the #22 spot or down further if possible.

lmao genius move right there. But seriously no QB is getting traded, Tolzien has zero value, Kaepernick might fetch a very late 2 pick right now, Johnson probably has zero value as well, Alex might also be worth a very late day 2.
More than likely Tolzien gets cut in camp and re-signs with San Diego lol.

I like all of our QBs, I think they all have great potential, especially under Harbaugh. Wouldn't be surprised if that 1 guy we traded away becomes a very good QB on another team.

Dude, who would trade one of the worst passing teams for a QB? Only Miami and Seattle wanted our starter, no one wants our back ups.

No one is gonna be traded, especially Colin Kaepernick. We traded up to draft him for a reason & he's our qb for the future. This signing is simply to have Colin compete for that #2 spot & show he deserves it. Also for insurance & depth. If anything, Scott Tolzien will get cut.

actually he's not PS eligible after being on the 49ers roster as the #3 QB all year last year.
responding to the original post, almost every single team goes to camp w/4 QBs. Smith is our starter, Kaepernick is still our future starter. Johnson was signed to strengthen the position and provide some TC competition that's it. Geez for a QB that hasn't played that well ppl around here are acting like adding JJ changes our entire plan. In reality, it changes nothing at all except probably our #3 QB.

If a gimmick quarterback in Tim Tebow whom started and lead his team to the second round of the playoffs wasn't worth a 2nd and a 6th, we are to believe that Kaepernick is worth that? We traded up to get Kaep, he will not be traded this soon. Tolzien was picked up off of waivers last year. He will either be on our ps this year or cut as too much money has been invested in Johnson, Smith, and Kaepernick at this point. So why would anybody offer anything of trade value for a guy that was our third string quarterback last year, never saw game action and couldn't make the first team that he tried out for. If anything, interested teams would simply wait for us to release or waive him.

i don't think he was active for a single game, though.
