This is a silly post with silly answers. Saying they going to lose the name cause the city of San Francisco wants to keep it when they get another Franchise. The NFL is not going to grant a third team in such a small area when there are more derserving cities the would make more financial sense. Also the team will still be in the area. As for the name 49ers, the city doesn't own that the team does, unless they move out of state like Hawaii

, it will be a name good anywhere in northern Cailfornia. Plus there is no law in the NFL books or Calif. constitution that says your stadium has to be exactly in that city.

The Golden State 49ers has a ring to it. Kinda like the Golden State Warriors. That name sure did help the Warriors.
Others:

Silicon Valley Einstein 9ers
Santa Clara or San Jose smoggy 9ers.
The Santa Clara 48ers.(named for #48th best city in US to live in)
Santa Clara 51ers (named for # of guys on team)

Nah, don't think so. Anything but SF 49ers is not even on the drawing board.
