Why you guys should be HAPPY about the tough schedule....

Not trying to be a doubter but I am not excited for the schedule at all. I think we got screwed with some of the matchups. I'm ok with playing the best, I do think it makes us better.

The only thing I don't like with the Giants scenario is that they had to beat Dallas just to get into the playoffs. It's easy to say now that it's over, just get hot at the right time and run the table. I hope next year does not come down to one game where we have to win to get in. I would rather just be a solid team that gets into the playoffs. The Giants won the SB fair and square but I still have a hard time thinking they were the best team. I want to be the best or one of the best during the regular season and then run the table in the playoffs so there is no doubt the the 49ers are the best in the land!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy about the match ups..not so happy MOST of the tough teams we play are away.

We only gotta have a better record than 3 other teams(nfc west) to make the post season and attempt a SB run...

No reason to worry about the schedule till the games are played, look at the Bucs, Rams & Eagles etc... teams supposedly making the next step to contendership last offseason and how did that turn out. Then look at us, detroit, Cincy, Denver, and other teams that actually took a step forward. Until the games are played, the schedule doesnt indicate how tuff a season its gonna be, before 2011 any west coast team with three 10am east coast road starts in a row would indicate a brutal schedule, but this team handled it.

Schedules have little significance, health will determine wins and losses more than a schedule will.

You know what I'm excited about? The fact that, with all of these marquee matchups, we're bound to be on national TV more often. For you bay area folks, that may not matter as much. But here in Athens, Georgia, there is one die-hard Niner fan that's tired of checking the Guide to Watching Games on the Internet thread every Sunday.

plus, i heard/read somewhere (pretty sure it was posted on this board) that over the last few years, the NFC SB champ played against the AFC East the year they won it all.

Well this is the way it is being good year in year out is what we want. Remember when 49ers of the 80's and 90's beat everybody anyway no matter what
the schedule. That's what we're trying to get back to. I'm not bothered about the schedule. Just win the damn games like we used to. Steelers and Patriots fans don't b***h about the schedule because they can beat anyone.

Right now we're better than the Seachickens, Tards, and Lambs. We'll probably be 5-1 in the division again but I wouldn't be surprised if swept them all.

6-4 or 7-3 out of the division Call me optimistic but here's how I see it.

Home Games Outside Division

Chicago - WIN Chicago doesn't scare me. Our defense is as good or better. Cutler is always good for about 2 picks. Will Forte be the same???
Lions - WIN Already beat them at home why would this be any different at the Stick
Giants - LOSS Clearly we have and can beat this team. But If Kyle Williams is still on the team
Bills - WIN Really??
Dolphins - WIN One of the few teams with a worse QB. Wait a minute who is their QB? And they are rebuilding again.

Road Games Outside Division

Green Bay - LOSS Should be interesting especially since Rodgers wishes the 49ers had drafted him
Minnesota - WIN PAAAAALEEEEEASE, No More Favre means no win for them and Will AP be the same guy???
New Orleans - LOSS I'd love to say we win but its in New Orleans
New England - WIN Between New Orleans, Green Bay and this team, the niners aren't gonna drop all 3.
New York Jets - WIN Loud mouth Rex, with one of the most selfish locker rooms in the league. They'll beat themselves Plus they can't rush the passer.

So at worst 11-5, at best 13-3 again.

Tuff schedule - I like it

As long as we don't have to travel to the East Coast on a thursday night we'll be fine for all of those games

we will beat the packers, patriots & EASILY beat the giants

i think the saints edge us with a field goal and some blown referee calls

it's an arena football team what more is there to it...it's a like house trained dog that is scared s**t if he goes outside.

I completely disagree about being happy about being 9-7, we need those home playoff games. Our defense and Alex smith arent quite the same on the road.

Winning as a 9-7 team is still very unlikely, and moreso in the NFC because it is stacked and there's always the strong possibility of having to go through New Orleans. If we hadn't beaten NO, they would've beaten the overrated Giants in that dome. The Saints play in the weakest division and get to play the pathetic AFC West next year. Then there's Philly, statistically a top 10 team that just had really bad luck and looked great toward the end as the D started to gel. I see them being elite again next year. Highly doubtful that any 9-7 team from the NFC gets to the SB in the next few years.

But I believe we finished as the NFL's best team and with Harbaugh getting his first offseason with the team and with Baalke re-signing our key guys, plus hopefully upgrading at least slightly at WR and RG, we should be even better. I think the offseason will greatly improve our OL and passing game. I'm most concerned about our run game. We were last in the league rushing on 3rd & short and the fact that Dixon was running on that crucial 2nd and 3rd down in the 4th quarter against the Giants is completely unacceptable. But all in all, I believe we'll improve enough to still finish 13-3 despite the tougher schedule.

If you want to be the best. You have to beat the best. It should be good practice for the playoffs. I suspect we won't have as good of a record. But we may be a better team.
