A team source told CSNBayArea.com that the day after the season, the sides reached an understanding that Smith would look for an opportunity elsewhere. He's been a disappointment in my eyes. 3rd Round pick who never panned out and took time away from Taylor Mays who I woulda liked to see stick around to join the Tony Montana Squad.

If not a guy like Sanu or Fleener, I could see the 49ers dropping a 1st or 2nd rounder on a FS, 49ers are woefully lacking depth at the position.

I like him and had high hopes for him when he was drafted, even thought at the time he was the best pick we had that year. He was considered a first round pick until about a month before the draft. I wish he could have panned out.
