In no specific order:
Ed Reed
Nick Collins
Eric Berry
Michael Griffin
Antrel Rolle
Antoine Bethea
Ryan Clark
Atogwe
Weddle
Earl Thomas
Malcolm Jenkins
Delmas
DeCoud (very under-rated safety)
Tyvon Branch
George Wilson

Uh, no. The only players on that list better then him are Reed, Thomas, and Berry and Berry's out for the season Im only saying that cause I see his potential. Your hatin' thinking all these joke players are better then him, Jenkins his secondary is horrible Delmas same goes with detroits, Atogwa was released last offseason (winner) . Nice try but your way off base.

Maybe you can't read very well. It says - better or as good as Goldson. Atogwa is a damn good safety who many of us wanted on this roster last year. Goldson couldn't even get a decent offer in the off-season, and Atogwa landed a lucrative deal.

Goldson better than Nick Collins? LOL - People are tripping on this board.

Another way of looking at it. 2011 season #'s.

Dashon Goldson: 27 years old. 64 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 6 interceptions.

Ed Reed: 33 years old. 48 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 3 interceptions.

Plus a very bad neck for Reed. Age and injuries catching up.

No person in their right mind would take Reed now or long term over Goldson. These guys are going off of "past reputation." What do you get for past great play? Mabye a bag of skittles or something...
Don't forget Dashon's 14 passes defensed, which is good for 6th by NFL safeties.

UH....he has 8.

Rogers (18), Terrell Brown (13), Patrick Willis (12), and Donte Whitner (10) have more ON HIS OWN TEAM.

His 8 would put him around 14th or 15th among Safeties.

People act like tackles is a good thing for a DB. That usually means you've allowed a catch, the least you can do then is make the tackle.
rewatching this game on nfl replay. Took a horrible angle on the Lockette lob, and an even worse angle on the Baldwin TD

edit: this is the 1st drive BTW

I wouldn't even get into a bidding war over Goldson. I'd give him an offer or two than if he rejects them see ya, not just veterans, but I'd take a bunch of Draft prospects over Goldson and Mark Barron is definitely one of them.

Pretty much this. I'd love to have him back for a reasonable salary - but won't overpay an average safety. If he took bad angles as a CB - I'd be more forgiving - but a safety CAN NOT take bad angles overand over. The position is called safety for a reason.

Exactly, I'm pretty shocked he made the Pro Bowl this year with all the mistakes hes made, I guess wins will cover it up though.

Or game-changing plays
I wouldn't pay him over $4.5 mill a year unless the raise was from incentives

Yah I guess so too.

I have nightmares of Reggie Smith giving up ass against the cowgirls. Here's to Dashon being a Niner for a long time to come.
Man this reminds me of the Alex smith civil war!=p

This is exactly how I feel, though I think even $4.5M is a little high for him - but I'll settle for that. Any thing more, and we should pass.

Yup. Guys who think we can just plug somebody in as good as Goldson are kidding themselves.
Did you really have to bring up AS in the post? Game Manager..holding back the offense..Hey but I think we all know who you love Diago...he has #11 on his chest..
