we dont have a red zone target
and they have been in the same system for what 4 years now
and as roman said the last thing that clicks when installing a new offense is RZ effiency
in other words our RZ woes are the effect of the lockout
patience it will ahppen its only a matter of time
Hope you're right.
its not the personnel outside morgan this is the same team last year which converted 60% of our RZ plays into TDs (which was 8th last year)
that tells us the problem lies with the coaching
new offensive system+ lack of offseason= offensive problems
so far the only problem our offense has is RZ effiency i call that a success iat least were getting there very often

It's a combination of play calling and QB play. Yes, I know I am violating the "Don't Blame Alex For ANYTHING" rule, but it is what it is. He lacks aggressiveness and plays it safe. Steve Young even said it on KNBR. There's a reason Alex has only thrown 2 redzone INTs in his career and it's not because he's just that badass. If his receivers aren't wide open , he wont throw it. He doesn't give them a chance to make something happen. He also doesn't anticipate a receiver breaking free and often doesn't see the window they create because he's already moved on to the next option.

Quit throwing that damn fade to Braylon for one, for 2 don't run on 2nd and 10 after the fade thus putting us in 3rd and 10, forcing them to throw another f**king fade and then kicking a FG!!! I would throw a slant to Kyle on 1st or 2nd down, run Kendall outside and go from there.

It also comes down to physical play at the goal-line. Dalenie doesn't get into the endzone in the Lions game if he didn't drag his defender into it as well. Get into position to fight for the ball. Look for the ball early. Better anticipation by the QB. Get the ball and fight your way in, there's no time to make a move. Defenders are way too freak'n fast for that. The only time that Singletary's 'physical with an F' attitude actually works is in the red zone.

i saw every red zone drive we have done since the eagles game (excluding last game)
and i can say we are just running the ball too much when we have the ersonnel of 2 WR 2 TE (where 1 of the TE lined up in slot) or 4 WR we actually are doing pretty good
the only issue i see is braylon edwards and the comeback route has some timing issues
other than that passing in the redzone looks good

The line also fails to drive the DL off the ball, limiting the ability to run in those situations, although it would help if they threw on 1st & 2nd down in goaline situations.

Playaction naked bootleg with alex, would give the defenses something to worry about.
Then maybe a slant or one of those stupid fades would work in the RZ..
OR.................. How about a fking screen, since we have probably run less than 5 all year.

play calling is limited because it's designed to maximize what he have given our skill, talent shortcomings. Anthony Davis is a bust, Joe Staley is not an offensice lineman commiserate of the contract he has, Not one of our recievers is capable of week in-week out makinbgt he tough catch and at the end of the day, so happy that Alex Smith finally gets to have some sucess but also mostly week in-week out the opposition has a qb that makes throws that Alex Smith just can't flat out make.
Harbaugh has micro-managed the living crap out of this team to bleed out the season we are having, this team has zero shot in it's current configuration at a superbowl. We don't have an offensive line to let Alex make the throws he knows how to make, Alex isn't a qb that can make the throws needed from a qb when that qb doesn't have the line that makes life easy. You combine all of that and you get a ridicuously limited playcall

I disagree, about the WRs at least. I think Crabs, and Kyle Williams on the colts, or giants, or packers would be great. On our team with the qb, and the way they are used they are hot garbage.
The rest of our WR's and TE's have regressed surprisingly since Jimmy Raye left. I want to know how Cutler went from getting sacked like crazy in every game, to the bears having a decent oline, and calling a different type of game. Why can't we do that?

both crabs and williams are doing great
crabs just isnt getting oppurtunities in red zone but everywhere else hes doing great
without injuries he would actually have over 1000 yard season this year
as for kyle williams he is doing good just not getting enough oppurtnities

Coaches lack of confidence in Smith, Smiths lack of confidence in himself, receivers who can't get separation...All this leads to soft play calling, wait until next year when JH has more time to add players, some current starters may be looking for work next season..
