Why play for a playoff week off when you can take off a whole month?

Would sitting out key players like Willis, Gore etc benefit us more than "aiming" for a 1st round bye when players all over the NFL are dropping like flies?

The Saints have a cup cake schedule and the NFL loved Steelers were handed down the longest rest possible for a west coast trip.

Let players like Kaep, Hunter, Kyle Williams, Aldon Smith get some reps and lets plan a 3 game playoffs.
uhh the whole point of the playoff bye is not for rest. it's so it's one less game to have a chance to get eliminated

What good is that if players like Willis and Gore are hurt?

A little strange that Gore only got 10 carries last game and the play calling was suspect.

JH may already be doing it
Lol

Because if we are the #4 seed we likely play two games on the road and a wild card....

We need all the advantages we can get. Most of our games have been extremely close, even the wins.

If we get the two seed we don't play a wild card, get a home game, then one game on the road if GB advances. If they don't we host another game.

If we lose the bye, I'd rather have the 4 seed than the 3, because I think we have a much better chance @GB than @NO. But we'll clinch no worse than the #3 seed as soon as Dallas loses again.
Because beating the Saints is easier here than there

Because we are playing for the highest ranked seed in the NFC now

Let me rephrase that; Beating the saints is a lot less difficult in Candlestick than in NOLA.

Let's face it, the way we played yesterday, we're not beating them in NOLA. SF. Or on a neutral field.
In addition to home field advantage and one fewer chance to be eliminated, there's also the issue of wanting to enter the playoffs on a hot streak. Think about the Cardinals' Super Bowl winning season, when they gelled and got hot at exactly the right time; or the fiasco surrounding the Colts' decision to rest players when they had the opportunity to go undefeated.
If Julio Jones stays healthy in ATL I would be worried about them coming down the stretch, they are flat out dangerous with him at 100 percent
We dont want a whole month off. Playing the Saints in their house is not an option.
