Possibly...Waters might have been if he stayed. Hearst was injured...and Craig may not have the record for ruahing yards, but he was the first rb to have 1000k running and rec.... Do not forget the previous records were not in 16 game seasons. It does make a difference. That said those RBs did not play against 9 in the box constantly.

When you look at the yards per carry average its absolutely astounding that Gore has done as well as he has compared to guys like Craig and Watters who had more room to work with.

I get this comment but the yards you are referring to are from a totally different league. Every team from the AAFC that was absorbed into the NFL does not include those stats. Also, knowing Gore, he will be aiming to beat Perry's total yards as a 49er.
