Can you be serious in telling me nobody is giving this further thought? Look at our team right now, the track we're on, the potential...this is the NFL, anything can happen. I may be newer to this board (I'm not a blogger, poster, whatever you call it...this board is very entertaining though and I do get some worthwhile 49er info here on occasion - I've been a die-hard Niner fan since the mid-70's, so I know it's before a lot of many posters here were even born)
It's not that you're new inherently, it's that this has been discussed as nausea before and frankly at this point, there is nothing to be done. We are NOT trading for Orton. If we had wanted a vet backup, we would have signed/traded for one at the beginning of the season. The trade deadline is TOMORROW. Nothing will change regarding our QB situation in the next 24 hours.
Worst case scenario, we will trust our rooks who have been being coached up in this system all year and maybe sign some scrap heap vet backup.
That's the reality. There are no other options, so there is no point in discussing it.

Harbaugh I do believe will make the adjustment and I think we can win with either one.

I'm not a person who looks on the negative side of things, especially when it comes to football. I'm just posing the question at this point in the season given our progress and from what I've seen in the NFL all my life when it comes to the QB position...even with the great Niner teams, they always had quality, experienced backup QBs (Young, Bono, etc.). I put this thread out there for some football-intelligent responses, that's all. We all see the potential in this team THIS season under Harbaugh and the excellent staff he brought in...we've all waited a long time for this team to get back to respectability...now that we're getting there and getting better, I'm just thinking about the bigger picture and this team being prepared for the rest of THIS season.

Blasphemy? You've got to be kidding around if you've read a word of my different posts under this thread. But I'm out now...the original question was a bad idea in trying to get football-intelligent responses...Mods can go ahead and lock this if they want as it's not getting anywhere (and, don't want to put "bad thoughts" into any fans' minds...)

It's a good question, especially now with this team showing the potential it has been w/out even playing its best, without even having all the O and D play calls incorporated, etc. Each week, they'll get better and better under this coaching staff and as they continue to get deeper into the playbooks...we can do some serious damage this year...we need a capable backup to step right in. The Raiders are looking at Kyle Boller right now - are you kidding me?
I think you made everyone's hard on go away! I think it is a good question.

this is a funny thread to me, 1st thing I thought when i read the title was wow man people are afraid of Alex getting hurt. i am 2 if i think about it but i choose not 2, looking fwd to Braylon getting healthy, Crabs getting his feet better and the team getting deeper in the playbook. Look out Browns!
