I know Alex Smith has been chance after chance to secede. He been in the league for 7 years. The 49ers were in the top three in sacks given up three out of five years (2008, '07, '04) yet didn't take an offensive lineman in the first round following any of those seasons. But he is tough. After being drafted #1 and thrown in there with no line. Is a recipe for disaster. Just look at the Q.B. that have worked out just 2 so far. So if we rank in the top 3 in the fewest sacks given and Alex Smith stills pro-forms the samething than there no excuse. It's just that we had Joe Montana, and Steve Young oh man do I miss them. It's not fair to Alex Smith to compare him to those STUDS. Lets fix our horrible line first. So if your TRUE HARDCORE NINER FAN than support Alex Smith. Let's start supporting him by thinking positive. Positive things happen to Positive thinkers. By the way he's no quitter which he could of gone to another team this year but he chose to say. Even though he didn't know if we where going to draft another Q.B he still chose to stay when it could of been so easy to leave so you got like that in him. He's no quitter. He's resilient just coming back from injuries, bad line, fan base, ETC. I know for a fact he doesnt trust his line when they cant even block for 3-5 seconds. I was Q.B. in High School and my line sucks too. We played a wish bone offense basically ran the ball the whole and you cant play that type of football in the NFL. SO FIX THE DAMN LINE PLEASE.

Joe Montana was sacked 96 times in 1988, 1989, and 1990. These were the years where there was no p***y QB rules.

Montana still hung in there and let the ball fly with precision.

Alex Smith top three sack seasons equals 89. And Smith gets a pass because he's sacked too much and is now scared of the pressure? And that is to be blamed on the OL, coaches, WRs etc?

Smith is not tough. Mentally maybe for staying here for so long. But then again, what other team would start this joker for 7 years.

Favre is tough. Montana was tough. Rivers is tough. Alex has been traumatized by his high number of sacks but so what? Other QBs get sacked more. Lift your balls off the ground and make a play.

That post was hella stupid to be honest with you. So someone who plays through 3 torn ligaments in their shoulder for 3 games isn't tough? Someone who gets booed and keeps coming back isn't tough? Someone who plays with a concussion isn't tough? Someone who get sacked over and over again isn't tough? It's a hell of a lot easier to make plays with a bad OLine when your supporting cast is Rice/Taylor/Craig/Jones, or when it's Freeman/Levens/Brooks, and when both of the guys you just compared him to had good defenses with legends(9ers had Lott, Haley, Carter etc and Packers had Reggie White). Not to mention you just compared him to 2 HOF QBs, which is stupid because it's like b***hing about how your Honda Civic doesn't go as fast as someone's Ferrari. You're blaming a player who is trying to rebuild his career under a new coaching staff for not playing like 2 of the best QBs to ever play, for not being a super bowl type of QB. That's stupid, at any given time there are only 3-5 QBs in the league who can carry their team to a super bowl and only 10-12 who you can build your team around and have a good chance to get there. Jeff Garcia wasn't one of those guys but it still was the wrong decision to get rid of him because he was the best we had and good QBs are hard to come by. Jim Harbaugh has forgotten more about football than you'll ever know and if he wants to give this "joker" another chance then I'll let him do whatever he wants.
