You just have to take them at face value, I personally got a chuckle from Blake's comical spinjob.

The absolute blindness it takes to create this kind of spinjob. Laughing right along with you brothers.

Harbaugh will eventually open the offense, with smith at qb, but don't expect to much until the division games

4) Are the Niners the only team struggling to run the ball?
5) Are the Niners the only team starting a rookie QB? (oops, my mistake, Alex Smith is in year 7!)

Regardless, Smith's ceiling is being a "game manager", a role he is clearly comfortable with--be a good, obedient drone, run the play, dont improvise, dont take any chances, and whenever possible either throw the ball to the RB in the flat, or no more than 10 yards in the air to any other receiver.

Maybe Harbaugh's not challenging him because he knows this is all Smith will ever be. Yes, the Niners are 2-1, but the offense is obviously sorely lacking. And it certainly is from lack of trying.

Great post. This is what I truly believe is happening.
What It means for the 49ers this season and beyond is plain and simple. Win the NFCW, lose in the play-offs call Harbaughs 1st year a success.
Get ready for a complete off-season next year and more work on the new system. A new QB starts (Keapernick or Tolzien) and more wins next year. I love this plan.
SUPER BOWL IN 2013

Money Post......All of it!!!

Only if you invest in spin and speculation, and I guess it could also.depend on how you define game manager.

To every BLIND Niner fan who refuses to believe Smith is an untrustworthy game manager, I direct your attention to nearly every time the Niners have been inside the opponents 10 yard line and Smith has FAILED to pull the trigger an an "IN THE ENDZONE POTENTIAL TD THROW."

Do you really expect me to believe that NO ONE WAS OPEN on all those possessions that resulted in field goals? Child, please.

Smith does not have the SACK to make an NFL QB caliber throw for 7 points when he can easily settle for 3. And Im sure Harbaugh is whispering in his ear, "Nothing stupid, Alex. Don't force it, we can still get the field goal."

Those are reasonable sentiments in Harbaugh was speaking to a ROOKIE QB. Smith's in year 7 of spineless suckage. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROTTING OFFENSE--ITS AN ALEX SMITH SPECIAL!

we got a Sherlock Holmes over here,,,,, hhahah, ,,,, we know he doesn't trust Alex just yet,,, Im hoping around 7 or 8 he really gets some pass blocking and can open things up a bit... as of right now Alex isn't the problem.

i think the OP is a Post Manager. fills a lot of space, generates clicks but lacks that winning substance.

This also, when they called passing plays on those two big drives, we went down the field. The rest of the time they just kept it singletarian.

Good point.

Something we all need to be reminded of from time to time: This is STILL Mike Singletary's team. With the exception of this year's draft choices, this team was put together to be a power-running team. A team that was built around both running the ball itself and stopping the other team from running. It was never intended to be an exciting pass-oriented team. That was not what Mike wanted and that was not what Baalke drafted. It is what it is - a bunch of ponderous bulldozers in the OL, receivers that were big enough to block well on running plays, a QB that would take and follow orders, and a "bell cow" to run the ball.

Just because we now have a new coach does not mean we have the players to execute his offense. When Bill Walsh took over the 49ers, it took two years to get the offense running the way he wanted, and that required some luck to get it going. By comparison, we are still in that first year. The year when Walsh went 2-14. So while I don't think we will only win 2, we will see some more games that will look more like yesterday's game.
I hate how OP signs his name at the bottom of his thread. GAY
game manager is code for my QB sucks.

It is what gives his post validity. He is THE BLAKE_FEVER!
WTF is your point? We all know this! He isn't going to put up prolific numbers and win us 13 games by himself. He isn't going to get much better. This isn't breaking news man.

ALEX SMITH IS WHO HE IS! HE WILL NEVER BE A PRO BOWL QB. GET OVER IT AND STOP MAKING THE SAME TYPES OF THREADS EVERYDAY.

I agree. We won yesterday because of the defense and Alex Smith eeking out just enough production in the passing game behind an o-line that is struggling badly.
It takes time to get the WCO down. Smith has been thrown under the bis and made responsible for every miscue the niners had. What harbaugh is doing is slowly openig it up, making sure that the players are comfortable with the plays. The screen to Vernon is a perfect example it takes practice selling that play and making it work.

While Smith is no rodgrs for the first time since '06 he's effective, not spectacular, but effective, he's not making bonehead throws. So far Harbaugh is doing a nice job, it takes time to implement a new offence with success.
