What is your opinion of Delanie Walker? | Page 7

I bring this topic not only to foster some discussion but also because it seems like forever that we've been drooling about Walker and Davis together creating mismatch problems. Let's face it, it just hasn't happened and who knows if it will ever happen in the future. Walker hasn't put up anything near the numbers to warrant some of the recognition that he receives from the fans and media. In fact, he rarely plays more than half the snaps on offense and I don't think he's ever had a big catching day either. Simply put, he's not our "X-factor" and while he's a good #2 TE, I don't think there's potential for much more from him. I know I'm starting this thread on the heels of a great but rare touchdown play by him, so I know 'Zone opinion may be swayed a little. Anyways, discuss...or flame on!

I'm having a hard time believing that Walker said this. However, I do believe that you heard it.

Not sure if I would call that throwing him under the bus. He's just stating that the play calls aren't the reasoning why we're not getting big plays.

Always thought he should have been a FB/HB. We should have packaged a deal like the Panthers did when they traded for Greg Olson (Underrated) and lining him up with their starter Jeremy Shockey.

Pretty good back up TE just had has been cursed just like all the receivers that have had to play with Alex.

im pretty sure if you pull up the stast he will have the best numbers for a #2 TE

New England, Detroit, and New Orleans had better 1-2 TE punch compared to the 49ers in the 2010 season.

Delanie Walker should be our utility player - FB, ST, and TE player that comes in on 8-10 plays a game. Our #2 TE should be a 6-5, 240 lbs that is an outlet for our QB if the other options aren't available.

While those 3 teams have legit QBs, none of them have uber fast TEs - they are large targets that know how to get open with their route running skills - not speed.

Ummm..Vernon ran a 4.38 at the combine. He's much faster than Walker.
