This I am not 100% on this fact but I think when alex was allowed to throw downfield (2 min drill only) he was 3/3 on passes above 10 yards and he hd some beautiful passes

Also the drive in the 4th. Alex brought us there only to have us finishes it off with a series of runs exactly like preseason.

On that two min drill, we were in teh shotgun a lot IIRC....so...............................

And I don't remember exactly, seattle could have been playing prevent defense, and we all know what prevent defense does..

Rewatching the game, I noticed we were going to lose the game until Ginn took over. The Seahawks had all the momentum, dominated the second half and closed to a few points. Lucky win for us in many ways that Seattle's top two special teamers were out with injuries and Ginn is a stud. Otherwise, the board would be howling in anger this week instead of calling for us to defeat the Cowboys.

A win is a win, ugly or pretty. But, I think we have to be very cautious about the overall success of the team. We were pretty fortunate to come out on top. This team has a LONG ways to go.

Please give me some lottery numbers with that "we were going to lose the game until Ginn took over" crystal ball!!!! I love how people assume (the key word here) momentum shifted and SEA was going to win. We don't know what would have happened if our offense took over. Alex could have messed it all up. He may have played brilliantly. The team may have faltered or succeeded. We really don't know.

To suggest otherwise is well... umm... your crystal ball should be able to finish that sentence for me!

saying that we would have lost this game if Ginn doesn't go off IS an assumption.

saying that Seattle had all the momentum in the game prior to Ginn's KRTD IS NOT an assumption

Who the hell plays prevent D in 2 min drill

49ers did under manusky, anytime we had the lead and wanted to lose it.

1) Crabtree lost some weight. Dunno if it was unintentional or he got himself in really good shape, but he looks skinnier. He is also still blocking hard downfield. On VDs first reception he BLEW UP Earl Thomas. He also seamed a little faster running his routes before he got hurt.

2) Speaking of Earl Thomas, that guy is going to be a thorn in the 49ers side for a LONG time. It seems like everytime it was third down that guy was making the play preventing us from getting it. He's a good one and needs to be accounted for.

3) On second viewing, Alex played better than I thought. I was a bit frustrated with the playcalling, but he did what he was asked and made some really good throws. Three of them were to VD, but the last one should have been a penalty. VD did hold up as not to get hit, but he was also held. I dunno if he figured there would be a flag so why get blasted, but to be honest I'd rather he NOT catch that because he's been hurt on those kinds of plays before.

4) I'm not saying that Frank has lost it, but his play concerned me. Seattle stacked the run alot and it's not like he had clean lanes to run through, but it just seemed he didn't have that little extra he usually has to get the extra yard that results in a first down or TD. It could have just been a bad game, he may not have his legs yet, or it could have been great play by Seattle....but it was enough to be concerned about.

5) Aldon Smith is a freak of nature. He didn't have a great game and wasn't dominant, but he made a few plays that no other human being could. First, on a play where the Tackle was trying to cut him...he put BOTH hands on the ground and sprung righ back to his feat. It was almost like he was a four legged animal and his arms and legs were the same length. He didn't make the play, but I had to watch it 2 or 3 times to see if I was actually seeing what I was seeing. In the second half he was cut again, easily avoided it and got the longest arms I've ever seen up in the air and on the ball. This guy is young and raw and has a long of ways to go....but he needs to join the X-Men because the guy is a freakin' mutant.

6) Scheme: When I watched the game the first time, I suspected that the Adam Snyder shift penalty was intentional. Now I'm sure of it. It was 4th and one and that shift gave the 49ers a first down. The gameplan was kinda vanilla, but there were little moments here and there where we got a glimpse of what we have to look forward to. The fake one way and then run behind Alex play. Nice. I honestly think that Harbaugh and Roman didn't feel the need to open the bag for this game and only used what they had to to get the W. When Seattle got within 2, I think they would have opened it a bit....but Teddy Ginn sealed the game for them.

7) Ted Ginn: Wow. He took 2 back, but he almost broke 2 more. I dubnno if there is something different about him this year, if Seely is just a better coach, or if the game was just a fluke....but he was ON on Sunday. He took some chances and lost some yards a few times (all really good returners do), but that guy was better than I've ever seen him.

8) Edwards is gonna be huge this year. He was held. Alot. We are gonna see many jump balls for him and he's gonna move the sticks.

9) Ray McDonald. Wow. Dominant. Only 1 sack on the sheet but disruptive the entire day

Nice analysis. I agree with the 4th and 1 call, were Snyder subbed in at TE and obviously got Seattle jumping. That was brilliant! I disagree though, that we would have opened it up being up by 2 pts. I just don't see that. They should have done it before that. There is no evidence to think they would, if you are watching the same game I am. What did you see in the previous 3 quarters? The only really non-conservative play was the reverse to Ginn.

It would not have been wide open, just enough to get into FG position. Harbaugh seemed ok with playing it safe. I'm pretty sure he knew what he was doing.

That's one way of lookin' at it.

My way is that Roman knew that he had to drive the field and score no matter what after they scored. Therefore, he would have had Alex throw more and push the envelope on the Seahawks by rolling him out because that where they had success. Like you said, the momentum at that time favored Seattle.

I believe our team would have taken it back and scored regardless.

I can't prove you wrong nor can you prove me wrong.

That's what's awesome about hypotheticals.

You doubt our coaching staff and I trust them.

Come back on Sunday, folks. for the conclusion of who's right.

Yea, like I give a "insert expletive here" about being right. I don't. I just want those chastised players like Brooks and Alex who work through adversity to prove guys like you wrong who doubt they can do it.

That's all. Rooting for the underdog.

My take is that Roman will air it out with Alex against Dallas. It will be on his shoulders. Hopefully, he can take it and deliver just like he was asked to 'cause the film don't lie.

We had a very conservative offensive game plan that didn't air it out.
We had a conservative defensive game plan that didn't use blitzing.
We had an aggressive ST plan.

These will change against Dallas.

So what? Last time I checked there are 3 aspects to this game. Offense, defense and special teams. If we are good at special teams it can help us win some games.

Harbaugh is still learning a few things as coach also----he was out coached in terms of halftime adjustments---the Niners were up 16-0---so it is easy to see why. Harbaugh and his staff are smart guys, quick learners--but it was a small lesson.
Not because i am a masochist, but mainly out of interest, i also rewatched the game film and compared it to Saints and Texans games...both abject OL failures, one an all out blitzorama, and second, just in your face dominance by the Texans DL and passrush. Everybody saw those games and everybody saw the SEA game. Yes, we didn't have in runblocking for frank, but you did not see alex getting clobbered, knocked to the ground, piled on, high/lowed, and basically pressured or hit on virtually every passinng play. I think JH took away from that what we all have seen during the reign of Defensive HCs. Either protect the QB with the OL or carry 8 QBs...which we obviously wouldn't do. So I believe he spent the entire week of SEA game working with each individual OL guy , teaching them how to passblock, how to move feet, how to use upper body, lower body and how to recognize blitz packs at least at the elemental level. With no OL runblocking, Frank can still survive the game. What JH saw in the two preseason games was that unblocked passrush results in not only no completions, but worse, no QB. And that is why he spent the entire week on the OL with passblocking...or at least it looks like he did. My bet he continues that but will gradually add in runblocking when OL is ready to learn how to perform that. But passblocking first, and it showed.

What i did see was only one whiff, I think an OG, but frank picked it up. Basically the OL protected our Qb, and on several of the 7 step drops, OL even managed to form a tiny pocket for alex, who threw two nice balls for good yardage. Didn't see any of that in NO or Texans game. Also, i didn't see any of the OL walking around after completely missing blocks with hands on hips, looking at the pile, where alex was at bottom. That didn't happen in SEA game, and guys, I am stoked. Just a little thing, but it really looks like the OL had no idea how to passblock. I hope they remember last week's teaching lesson this week. Don't know if coach got to runblocking , and if not that is fine by me. If he needs 2 weeks or 8 weeks to teach the OL how to passblock, as long as they learn it, I will be just fine. Next: runblocking. Next: coaching around obvious weaknesses after OL learns both passing and run blocking.
Wow I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that four-legged burst by Aldon, that was nuts. -It's no wonder Bill Belichick was so sad to see this guy go off the board early (who had admitted to absolutely trading ahead of the Texans to snatch him if Aldon had still been around at #10), cause Aldon has the genuine physical intangibles to play at both DE and OLB.

In the NFL Network series with Belichick, I have to see if a man snuck into his office or anything from that series. I think Baalke grabbed his scouting report.
O-Line holds up and plays tough we have a chance
