I don't get your point. It is is a prognostication of his future performance, based on his past performance, done by NFL analysts and statisticians, for application in fantasy football. It could get applied to a Barbie doll house building project, it doesn't matter. It doesn't change the fact that the prognostication is based on REALITY.

With the pass rusher about to get him from behind, there is neither time nor reason to ignore Gore and go looking to see if Davis or Crabtree had come open.
If there is any Seattle defender the 49ers had game planned to avoid it would be Earl Thomas...and he is sitting right in the middle of the picture. With his reactions and speed, he likely would have deflected a bullet pass or gotten back to pick a floater.
Go look at the actual play in real time.
The reason people defend Smith is from ridicules positions people make. He has and is given fault but people jump on the dang wagon and just chalk things up to his fault before even really looking into them.
Like you said, Smith Scans VD and Crabs who are not open, so what people want him to do is throw him open which takes another 1.5s. So Basically he has to stare down Crabtree for 1.5seconds until right before he comes uncovered and pass the ball.... Well who thinks that's going to working the RedZone in the NFL??? No anybody who really looks at it for what it is.

The only reason he wouldnt be throwing the football at the time the picture is taken is because Alex is often too quick to dump the ball off. Like I have been saying, Alex needs to learn to throw receivers open. If he floats the ball to the back of the endzone, either Crabtree catches it, or its overthrown incomplete. Instead of doing this, he dumps the ball off too early. An article I read earlier says Alex often "sees ghosts" (as in sees pressure that isnt really there). Since we agree that Alex probably didnt see the pressure from behind, his decision to dump the ball to Gore was most likely based on the pass rushers in front of him that werent really all that close. No other reason to not let the play develop longer. Crabtree catches a touchdown pass on this play with a large percentage of NFL starting QBs.
Your the last one to be telling Alex where to throw the ball after that Vernon had a few steps and Alex threw an accidental back shoulder throw debacle.
Ya it was absolutely ridicules, especially when he insisted it was an accidental back shoulder throw.

why the hell do you keep saying this? nowhere has anybody been called an idiot who knows nothing about football for bashing alex smith. We call you trolls, and I call it annoying.

I still have no problem with the checkdown
Not necessarily. Although this is far above the ability level of Alex Smith, he would only need to see that MLB and the DB on Vernon and the space in the End Zone and make a blind throw.
The other thing is that he has very solid blocking and could have waited prior to checking down. He even rushed the throw on the check down and was inaccurate throwing it to Gore's outside shoulder where he had to reach for the ball when the open space is in the middle.
Totally erroneous. Go watch the play in real time.
You know how in the past years, our rushers were always whizzing right behind QB's only for that QB to slightly step up and complete a pass? That's what Alex had in this situation. He was WAY too quick to check down here. Even Greg Cossell, who is a part of Edge NFL Matchup calls this one out on Smith.

It does matter. Just because you're not highly rated in fantasy football doesn't mean you're not a good QB. I'm not arguing whether Smith is good or not, just saying that a fantasy football projection is all about numbers, not wins and loses.
Example:
Eli Manning/Josh Freeman are both good QB's but they're not the ideal fantasy football QB's. Heck, Ryan Fitzpatrick is better rated in fantasy than both of them. Is Fitzpatrick better than Eli? No.

Really? where have you been? Dave Razzano, Jerry Rice, Eric Davis, and Cosell are all idiots that know nothing about assessing the QB position. Coincidentally, they also all believe that Alex Smith sucks.

Greg Cosell also said it was a 4 reciever set, with 3 recievers to Alex's left and 1 to his right. He doesn't even have the proper play. How can you say ohh hey he's right, when he doesn't even know what the play was?
Q: We do, it was in the first half.
GREG COSELL: Yes, yes. And it was a very basic, what we call three-by-one set. Three receivers to his left, one receiver to his right. The read was defined before the snap of the ball. It was very basic stuff. And he panicked in the pocket, and threw a frenetic incomplete check down. And then what happened later in the game in the 4th quarter? They had two 3rd & goals – one before roughing the kicker and one right after roughing the kicker, both from the four yard line. Did you notice they handed off on both of them?

Harbaugh is also pretty good at assessing the QB position and coincidentally is our HC. He likes Alex. Im rollin with Harbaugh on this one

exactly. McNabb put up almost as many fantasy points last week as Smith, but threw for only 39 yards and his team lost.

ergo he is an idiot that knows nothing about football, and this oversight clearly invalidates all of his film assessments of Alex Smith over the last 7 years.

that assessment says NOTHING about fantasy points or rankings. This is a red herring argument on your parts. All it says is a prognostication of his future performance, based on his past performance. There is nothing fantasy about the statements posted. They are an ESPN NFL analysts opinon of Alex Smith. Nothing more, nothing less.

then tell me the point of your earlier message. You ridiculed his analytical skills. The obvious conclusion is that he is an idiot that doesn't know what he is talking about, and by extension, that his assessments of Smith as SUCKING are therefore flawed and inaccurate.
