Gore --> Omon

Does the uncertainty surrounding Frank Gore's contract negotiations give Xavier Omon a shot to make the roster?

we'll try to sneak him on the PS, but I believe someone will pick him up.

How do you guys have any investment in Omon? Because he scored against 3rd stringers?

I watched this guy play on Saturday. Yes it was against 3rd stringers but dude had some moves. Some of the cuts he made were amazing.

Not sure that Omon has practice squad eligibility... ... have to check on that. Would love to be able to stash him there.

I don't think so. Doubt we carry 4 RB's, even assuming we dont work out an extension for Gore. Even if we traded Frank, I imagine the team would add a veteran running back to replace him, so as not to rely on the immortal trio of Dixon/Hunter/Omon.


Omon has looked pretty good though, FWIW. Good PS candidate, I think, but he's nothing special, IMO.

There's no way he makes the team unless they dump Dixon, which isn't going to happen.

The likely hood of a guy who has been on 4 teams in 3 years will suddenly make the roster is very very low. Why does the Zone fall in love with guys like this.

Sure he could suddenly blow up, but why waste hope on a guy like Omon.
