I personally don't see Smith as a SS. You gotta remember that this defense is sepposed to be able to mirror each side of the field. Doesn't sound like to me that there is going to be a big difference between the FS and SS responsibility other than what side of the field they are on.

This quote is what lead me to believe it was because of the Goldson re-singing. I believe Smith thought it was his FS job to lose, but now it will be Goldson's job to lose.
I always thought Reggie Smith was a better FS than Goldson anyway, actually I thought Reggie Smith was the best FS on the team.
