How Do Younger Niner Fans Become Niner Faithful???

I don't remember when I started watching the Niners because my dad always had the games on since I was born in '81. I can remember '86 on. Unfortunately, my knowledge of pre-80's teams is poor, but I enjoy listening to stories about them and Kezar.

We couldn't afford to go to games, but my dad scored 50yd line LES tix from a co-worker for the 2001 season opener. And now that I can afford season tix, he comes with me to games when he's in town. I go to every home game and every season or two I go to an away game.

I guess what I am saying is younger fans can become Niner Faithful by growing up with the team on web/radio/tv. The fact that my dad and I watched so many games together when I was growing up is what influenced me to now support the team in every way I can.

Maybe some people on this forum can recommend a bar or other place that broadcasts Niner games and has a group of fans with historical knowledge so people like me can learn more about the pre-80's Niners.

Actually, I'm quite impressed that a lot of cats on here became 49er fans AFTER the glory years. Me, I've been a faithful since the 45-14 Dallas game in 81.

The fact that you watched Dorsey Pickett and lived through the Donahue Nolan Sing years means that you guys are truly faithful.

The 9ers have only had one long period of draught...since the Yorks took over. They were always in the mix and just missing in the big games until Walsh. So, the 9ers entire history is positive except...

Its weird sometimes how people chose to be niner fans. Some were. Born into it, others saw them and like what they saw on the field. I chose them when I was 4 or 5, my dad tried to recruit me to be a raiders fan, but red is my favorite color. After I got a little older and understood the game I started to appreciate what I was actually seeing. I became a true fan in 91, and times were good.

Being a 49er faithful, I think is really believing in your team when they're good, and sticking by them when they aren't so good.

For those of you who didn't get to enjoy the 80s and 90s. More power to you for still coming around. And maybe one day we will all get to see a second dynasty with the 49ers. Hopefully soon

I think younger fans deserve just as much respect as older ones. Most have only seen the team since around 2003 since we started sucking. Don't even know what it's like to see the 49ers in a playoff game. If you're still a fan through this, i think it separates who likes the 49ers and who loves the 49ers

I am 25 and my family and are big time niner fans and some of them have been watching the niners play since the early days of kezar. However I have been lucky enough to remember the last superbowl and see most of the steve young and rice years through to the garcia and t.o. years. These years plus my family love for the niners has cemented my faithfulness. These last few year have been a real challenge but I love watching the games and seeing the great plays some of our young players make and I think to myself its only a matter of time until i see the team i love win a superbowl during my adulthood.

I was drawn to the 49ers in 1976. We just moved to California from living in Europe. We were living the San Joaquin valley which was evenly divided between Raiders, 49ers and LA Rams fans. Not a whole lot of SD Chargers. I was drawn to the forty niners because I love the city (SF). At the time it was tough to be a Niners fan because in the mid to late 70s the team was not that good. The GM was Joe Thomas (bad traded/drafting), 49ers went through a bunch of head coaches, gave up a ton of draft picks for a washed up OJ Simpson,
traded a good player I liked in Delvin Williams. The forty Niners had a great defensive line. I remember one game they beat the LA Rams by sack Rams QB 10 times in one game. The DLine was great..Cedrick Hardman, Tommy Hart,
