How Do Younger Niner Fans Become Niner Faithful???

Agree, agree, agree. It is gonna be interesting to read the comments from people on every given mistake made by certain players. To be able to determine whether they express joy over a 49er mistake will be pretty clear and telling of where their loyalty stands vs personal bias.

Turning 26 next month. What got me into the team was the end of our glory run in the 90's. By the time I was about 8 years old in 1993-1994 I became a fan thanks to Steve Young, Rice, Watters, McDonald, Hanks and co. It wasn't easy, especially being all the way here in NJ, but I just didn't want to be a Giants/Jets/Eagles fan.

I've never looked back. Rooted for this team through thick and thin since. For the past several years, I try to make it out to a game at the Stick once a year.

Watching games with my dad and stepdad got me into the faithful. Win or lose the Niners, Giants, and Sharks all became my teams more through family bonding experiences like ball games and nights at the shark tank. Also rooting for class acts like Young & Rice as well as the underdog Garcia made it a pretty easy team to get into as well.

My dad was a raiders fan from his time living in Ca in the Airforce. I remember watching the 49ers in 1990 against the Raiders ( I think) on MNF. I was hooked on the Red and gold unis, and loved how sweet the west coast offense looked, compared to the ground and pound of other teams at that time.

I was young then, what I really remember was the Steve young, Jerry Rice Era niners, so sweet putting up like 30 points a game. Blowing out the falcons by 30ish points at least once a year.. But I also remember the epic playoff games against the cowboys and packers.

Anyways, I am 29 now, I was rollin with Nolan, then frustrated with singleminded, but I am still niner faithful, and still have hope for Alex Smith.

2011 is our year, to get back to the playoffs!!!

I was born and raised a niner fan the last superbowl the Niners won I was only 5 years old so I don't even remember that. I am now 21 years old and it has been a pretty bad past 10 years but I love my Niners and I will always bleed red and gold no matter what!

I can't wait till we are good again, I miss in the early/late 90s how the niners actually got like 2-3 mins of highlights shown on NFL primetime, instead of them just showing the score to our games, and moving on to the patriots highlights.

i was born in 87, so too young for the 80's teams...and i live on the east coast, so location has nothing to do with it, and my parents arent football fans and my older brother is a dolphins fan....so everyone thinks its strange that i became a niner fan

good man, I still remember jerry rice catching so many beautiful deep bombs and posts, or slants and taking it to the house.

I have no clue how jerry made it look so easy, and we haven't had anything like it since. (the closest we have had was the flashes antonio bryant had for that one season)

My family are all cowboy fans and when We would watch them play the niners I got hooked, i watched every game for the last 10 years and I don't plan on missing any until I'm dead.

How did I become a fan. Long story. As kids in elementary school we loved to play the game. Also one of us had an electric football set, as there were no madden football. the rest of us would chose a team and say I kapu the ***** team (kapu is what we say in Hawaii for dibs on...) and mail order the team set painted in that color. Anyway I was trying to decide, my mother asked what I was doing...so I explained, she asked is there a San Francisco team, yeah I said, why don't you pick them she said, why? Because you were born in San Francisco. Really? Okay cool! Remember, I was in elementary school, so thats when I would watch and root for the niners, one of the neighbors like the Vikings, another the Rams. Anyway the niners won the Division that year with John Brodie, but it would be very painful as that is when the niners developed their rivalry with the hated cowboys. Then after Dick was fired the niners would suffer like they are now until they hired Walsh, who at the time I did not know his bg very well. Anyway the rest is history.

My Dad was a huge niners fan since the late 70s, so naturally I became a 49er fan.
