What the 1999 Rams did, as much as we hate their oganization, is incredible. And it's OK if they have the greatest team of all-time...it's the only SB champion team they've ever had. Just like the 85 Bears. Let them enjoy their one spectacular year. The 49ers have 5 rings, even if none of those teams are Top 10 all-time individually. We had sustained excellence.
The 99 Rams had a great offense . . . so great they averaged a whole 9 yards per more than the 89 Niners . . . and the competition?
I don't know where you're getting that. In 1989 the Niners played EIGHT regular season games against teams with records ABOVE .500 and went 6-2. The Rams played ONE regular season game against a team with a winning record (the Titans) and lost.
They had Martz and the fast surface and they caught lightning in a bottle for a season . . . good for them. I agree with the Superbowl Champion rankings by NFL.com that puts the 1999 Rams at #19 . . . that sounds about right.
And you say . . .
"The 49ers have 5 rings, even if none of those teams are Top 10 all-time individually."
If that's not a troll line I don't know what is.
