Have we improved at all from last year?

Draft wise not really sure if any of the guys can have an instant impact. but we shall see on that.

We need to look back at lead year's class and hope that Iupati, and Davis more than sure up this oline. They have the talent to be great. It's time for Staley to step his game up as well. He needs to be better than average. Not sure where they will play bowman but he should be ready to step up. Never liked Mays but hopefully they scheme things to use his ability. I expect to see 3 safeties on the field at times next year with Mays being a rover like woodson was for the Packers. I think player development will grow with a new coaching staff. But the main problem is we can't coach them due to this lockout.

With draft and cloaching alone- YES. we've improved. However in FA, we need only 3 to 4 guys (FB, NT, QB, and possibly a CB). There's plenty of the 3 position guys, with only QB that can be expensive..

Well I highlighted the Main bright spot, and our new HC is the one that everything starts with. Same QB or not, same Oline, same Defense, same ST, and if even the same WR's. But the playcalling makes all the difference with everything in my opinion. Same any position or not.

Some people were upset with the draft, but i for one was pretty happy. Because of certain positions drafted or lack there of, means that we may not be far away in his eyes, and that maybe we had more of the pieces than we as fans thought. They just havent been put in the best position to be successful is all.

I think coach will know that if your a WR who's slow but has the best hands, you'll only mostly run short to medium routes. If as a QB, your strength is short and medium, then design the offense around that, and throw in maybe a long bomb or deep threat every 15 plays or such. With Defense, if your talent is rushing the passer when standing, then dont have him that much with his hand in the ground. You know what i mean.

We have a HC that can MAXIMIZE each individuals position, and treat each one like it is it's own entity. That we havent had in a long time. So i think once again, gettin an offensive minded HC, and new DC that blitzes constantly that we are in for a surprising year, and i think besides a few players here and there, those two are the biggest things we need to be successful.

Yes, because we have a coach who knows how to gameplan, teach players, and coach. So even before FA and the draft, we got better.

The looneys were running the assylum for sure last year, but what made the games really hard to watch were the blunders and failure at the fundamentals. f**k last season could easily fill an entire NFL blooper DVD with our team alone.

Well said. We finally have a head coach other coaches WANT to work with not HAVE to work with. Just being a fundamentally sound team last year would have won our division. Even if we lose some vets like Lawson, Goldson, and Clements, the benefit from coaching (like putting players in the right position to be successful) should more than make up for those vet's absences.

Anything other than run,run,screen, punt is an improvement.

Give me a vet QB with actual winning experience then we can compete in this division this upcoming season but if we dont really do anything in free agency ill have to say a BIG NO!!!!

Improvements
1) Head coach
2) Coaching staff
3) Special Teams - better coach and draft picks who could excel (Culliver and Jones) in that area.

Break Even
1) RB - Kendall Hunter was the best draft pick. He will replace little used Westbrook.

Still to be answered
1) QB - Besides Kaep as the long term prospect, who will be there on opening day? (Smith, vet FA, Froman UDFA, etc.)
2) OLB - How good with Aldon and T. Gibson be and will Lawson still be around?
3) DL - NO draft help
4) CB - vet free agent help? Little to no help from the draft.

How can you say that none will have an immediate impact. Wait and see. I say the 49ers improved tremendously. New coach, new scheme, new culture, and quite frankly, IMO we got some players (Smith and Kaepernick) who will turn some heads in this league. Lets play it out and see.
