With the drafting of Aldon Smith, do we re-sign Lawson?

or just have Brooks, Laboy and Gibson battle it out
He is a goner
I guess it partly depends on what he thinks he is worth.

why? its not like Haralson is good and Gibson has shown nothing so far. I think at the right price we could have a good LB core, plus Lawson is great in coverage

if he doesnt want a ton of money then im all for signing him but we will see
I would. He's really good in coverage. He's fast as heck. And he's long. He even knocks down passes sometimes in coverage and near the line because of his 6'5" frame. For the right price yes. Nobody ever said he was great. But he is good IMO in certain categories.

thats what i am saying, for the right price I would love to welcome him back. We would be stacked for the first time at passrusher with Lawson and Smith starting along with Gibson, Laboy, and Brooks coming also in different packages

I agree, with the exception of the word passrusher. Lawson isnt really a passrusher, is he?

Yes, if he is willing to stay, which is an open question.

He will be much better as a pass rusher in Fangio's system than the Nolan/Sing stuff. That being said, there have been so many reports of his unhappiness in the 49ers for not even offering him a new contract that I would be surprised if he is even willing to consider an offer.

He was miscast from the very beginning of his time here. I believe he could be very good in a rotation that puts him on the field for passing downs and blitz situations but he would be even better in a 4-3 somewhere else.

He is gone.
if he wants a contract that will be less than Aldon Smith

then yes
yes we need him as a coverage LB he is one of the best in nfl at that

If 2010 NFL rules carry over, 49ers Manny Lawson, Dashon Goldson and Ray McDonald would be restricted free agents. http://bit.ly/iTifW8

I think Manny at Sam and Smith at Will would be an excellent combo

The Niners tendered Lawson in early march, it may mean nothing with a new CBA,
but i think it sends a message that the Niners want him back
