I respect your opinion, but mine are different. As long as the Yorks are in charge, we will never win, and the only ones that expose their biz approach are these two guys. Its a shame, from five SBs to this garbage.
Will you change your tune if Harbaugh turns it around in the next couple of years? People that Praise Eddie forget that his hires stunk before Walsh, and Walsh didn't start winning until year 3, w/out a lockout.
Absolutely, I am all for Harbaugh. Don't get me wrong, my criticism is not directed towards coach H. Its the Yorks that I don't trust.
Jed him
. Like I said, Eddie D had to make his mistakes before he got it right. Isn't it possible that Jed had some tough lessons to learn, and he is starting to do it right, mostly by hiring good people and staying out of their way?

LOL! Even if it's not a surprise!
Doctor? Why do I feel BOTH of your hands on my shoulders?

Great video with 49er legends Bill, Joe, Jesse, and Roger volunteering to teach the offense.

Without the seemingly unnecessary bravado, Bill Walsh quietly demanded perfection. Tom Rathman also spoke about how Bill made the same statement to him during his rookie season. Whenever a receiver, tight end or running back dropped a ball during a game, whether it was a win or a loss, one could almost perceive the disappointment on their faces or in their voices in postgame interviews. The organization was successful in establishing the subtle point that mistakes, despite outcomes, would not be overlooked.

How long does it take for Harbaugh's hair to go gray like Walsh with the Niners? I bet is with in 2 years. Hopefully we would have won a SB by then. He would look really distinguished like a genius, not old and senile.

Maybe - if you have time to develop someone. The point of the quote isn't about whether or not a player can be "cured", it's about an insistence on perfection - or striving to be perfect, always hungry, in pursuit. It's about an attitude to accept nothing less but your absolute best effort all the time - no poor route running, no whiffs on blocks, no constantly requesting absences for "personal reasons". Commitment to excellence is more than just curing brick hands, it's about personal responsibility to make sure you don't let your team down. I think that's what's lacking and hopefully Harbaugh brings that back.
We had time to develop the GOAT. He looked impressive early on, but def. had a case of the dropsies that rookie year.

Great, revealing article. If Harbaugh can learn from Bill Walsh and be a true protege, the 49ers will be in good hands for years to come. Hopefully, another new success story in the Walsh coaching tree.

His attention to detail is very Walsh-esque. The report out on Sunday about working singly with Vernon Davis in correcting his route running is exactly the kind of thing Walsh would do. I remember Steve Young talking about how Walsh would demand that Roger Craig run a circle route or a swing route over and over until he could run it so consistently that the QB could just turn and throw the ball to a spot and know Roger would catch it on his front hand.
Cam Inman was talking this morning about how detailed Harbaugh and his offense are. That makes the learning curve a good bit longer than the Jimmy Raye offense but it also makes it work.

If you guys didn't live in the past so much, the present wouldn't be so painful.

There is nothing wrong in looking back and being proud of what your team has accomplished

One thing for which Walsh did not get enough credit was how well he built and trained his assistants. It was just the OCs like Holmgren and Shanahan that made his teams work, it was the position coaches who put in the time in the trenches teaching the fundamentals that allowed guys like Ayers and Cross to reach their full potential. We all know about Bobb McKitrick but he was just one of a large number of well trained position coaches who gave Bill the tools to run his team, both on offense and defense, to become the dynasty it became.
