Fangio not impressed by Lawson (per Glenn Dickey article)

I think its interesting that he rates Gabbert so low. Now, I personally would put a gun in my mouth if we picked him at 7, but I know that not everyone agrees with that, and some teams do think highly of him. Its also interesting that he said Harbaugh preferred Gabbert over Luck coming out of HS. I have personally felt all along that I would rather have Locker than Gabbert. I am not saying I want Locker at number 7 by any means, but I would have no problem with us trading up in the 2nd, or even back into the late 1st to get Locker.

This guy was right about Alex Smith, when everyone else was wrong, so he does have some credibility in my book when it comes to scouting qbs; however, had the situation been different, Alex may have been more successful here. But good players overcome average situations, and Alex has not. Time to move on.

Peterson or von miller at 7, trade up into the late 1st and get locker.

-Me too.

-And i don't know if i believe that. I mean, if that were the case then people would have a great argument for why we WOULD take him. Anyone have a link to support this hard to believe claim?
Lawson is good at covering people and has speed and range. He's not a super pass rusher. But that doesn't mean he isn't a good player.

Oh and Jake Locker? Really?

What the scout said about Locker is true. He wasn't playing with anything in WA. All by himself.

He also said that Smith already got two coaches fired. I couldn't agree more.

Fangio believes in a 3-4 defense, with outside linebackers as primary pass rushers and frequent blitzes. He has apparently not been impressed by the play of Manny Lawson, now a free agent, so it’s unlikely the 49ers will try to persuade Lawson to return.

bad news i liked lawson a lot he was probally one of the best all around OLB in nfl and now were gonna have to find a replacement for him (hopefully laboy and brooks will be starters)

what? he's not one of the top 30 OLBs in the NFL. 15 sacks in 5 years? 2 Ints in 5 years? 6 FFs in 5 years? Deflected 14 passes in 5 years (decent). And every time he gets pressure that doesn't result in a sack, the play results in a first down or a TD. Lawson may be one of the worst starting OLBs in the game.

THIS WAS THE SAME GUY WHO SAID WE SHOULD START NATE DAVIS AT QB IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON

credibility lost (sorry for caps pressed caps lock dont wanna change it lol)

Yeah cause we started the season really great. 0-5 was awesome for people who arent 49er fans. 49ers arent in a pickle we are f**ked. Our QBs suck and if we are lucky we draft a rookie who can start day 1. Hell id wager if Smith is kept he loses his job before the season starts. He just sucks that much.

Somebody knows something!! Right arm bro.. sighhh..

You would think these posters never saw that guy play. I'm talking about the coach killer now..

Holy s**t already Alex is like some kind of herpe we cant get off the f**king roster. Do you know how f**king bad you have to suck to get booed in SF? Then again starting Alex would be a sure way to get Luck next. Yay

I know. It's true though. Sometimes I feel as if some of these people have never seen the guy play. All they talk about is EVERYONE else: the coaches, the receivers, the o-line, the defense, the fans, the booing, the cheerleaders, the janitor.

But we never hear an analysis or statement about his actual play on the field...you know, the thing he actually gets paid millions of dollars for.

Those guys got themselves fired. Dingleberry has no business ever being a HC at any level. The guy is an absolute idiot. NoWin throws his players under the bus. You need more of a leader than that. 2 guys who really shouldn't have been HC's. But it's not surprising since the York family has made almost all disastrous hires until Harbaugh. Everybody up to him was terrible.
He's right about letting Smith test the market. Teams won't be interested in Alex Smith other than a backup role. This actually improves our chances at signing him cheaper because he's pretty much got a starting job here unless we sign a career 3rd stringer to eventually beat him out in TC.

I agree with this sentiment. No idea how good Alex could've been, but Team Nolanterry did NOT help things.

Alex lovers probably hate this dude because he destroys Alex with a passion, and I love it.
