I'm sure if some of you saw this: “So excited, yeah, I’m going to say it, I’ve been studying Alex Smith and watching him and I believe that Alex Smith can be a winning quarterback in the National Football League,” Harbaugh said. “I’m excited to work with him, get to know him.” What are some of the qualities Harbaugh saw in Smith? “Very accurate passer,” he said. “Very athletic. And a guy that has played and been durable.” Harbaugh went on to say that he’s talked with Smith and other players about having a “clean slate” with the new coaching staff. You can't take too much from what any coach says right now. No roster decisions will be made for a while at this point.

If he thinks A. Smith is one of the legit option at qb then why not. Smith isn't as bad as some claimed on this board. It sounds like Harbaugh wants Smith as competition with whoever else we are going to get at qb.

I wouldn't be opposed to it at all. I think Alex can be an above average quaterback. Especially with Harbaugh.

Harbaugh is just trying to be nice. He's not going to go on the radio and bash Alex Smith. Everyone in the league knows Alex is a piss poor QB.

If Harbaugh wants to keep his job, he will not want Alex Smith on his team period. Alex Smith is a coach killer.

I'll have to agree with fakers here.

Alex is pretty bad on the deep throws. He's money on the intermediate ones. And average on the short ones.
