You could say the receivers sucked.....or we have had crappy QBs throwing to them. I'll say the latter.
Or the playcalling..
run run go for broke on 3rd and long punt
run run screen pass punt
run run run punt
swing pass, run run punt
You stole the playbook!!!

I'm going to try and list as many receivers as I can think of who've tried and failed in the Niners system in the past and thusfar. This will probably read like a Wall of Shame:
Michael Crabtree - Jury's still out...
Antonio Bryant
Brandon Lloyd
Sullivan's Angels - Receivers who got more reps than they deserved because they tickled Sullivan's funny bone. Not because they were fast or caught the ball particularly well.
Arnaz Battle, the Epitome of Mediocrity
Curtis Conway
Taylor Jacobs
Brian Gilmore
Josh Morgan
Darrell Jackson
Dominique Zeigler
Sullivan's Sh*t List - We'll never know what we had in these guys, or maybe we will now that he's gone. They all got the same treatment as Brian Westbrook did this year. No opportunities whatsoever. I think Lelie had like 7 passes thrown at him all year.
Ashley Lelie
Jason Hill
Ted Ginn
Don't forget Johnnie Morton.

1. Why is everyone all of a sudden giving up on Morgan and Ginn, AND annointing Kyle Williams as a legit slot guy!?!? He hasn't done a thing yet. Have you all forgot about the "OFFENSE" (or lack thereof) they've been stuck in?? The offense itself should be called Receiver Graveyard.
2. I think we'd all agree that all of our receivers are talented. Sully was NOT getting them to their potential. Now, how much of that was Dingleberry restricting them from the offense is another debate.
3. I think that even if we don't draft a WCO type guy (Austin Pettis)..we're fine!! Let's take a look at our rival Rams WR's...Amendola, Gibson, Alexander, Robinson... "WHO??" Exactly, just goes to show with a little offensive innovation (Harbaugh) and a more than capable QB (To be decided), a respectable offense is possile...even without a roster full of blue chip prospects.
We don't need the A.J. Green's and Andre Johnson's of the world.. We just need someone who knows how to take the diverse and talented receiving corp we have, and maximize their ability within the offensive scheme.
