Just because it's there doesn't mean it's a good thing!

Actually this could play very well into next season if we keep this streak alive..teams might not game plan that much against us in the run and we can key in on the pass rush and better secondary play...

So that hideous looking fat girl loses weight, tones those thunder thighs and ass, gets some lipo and she's not that bad looking after all..if need be just stick a bag over the noggin :P

Well played.

We could just beat her face in and make her get surgery, too.

that analogy made no sense...

the point is our run D is good, and has always been good. its not the best, but were always stout overall against opposing RB, despite the KC game. keeping a RB under 100 yds isnt special, but if you do it for a whole season its somewhat impressive. it just means no one player was able to go nuts on the ground against us. it also means we didnt really give up any big yardage runs this year.

our pass D is awful, which is our major flaw. the front 7 are really good. our best CB is an overrated bonehead, and our S are a joke.

when your pass D is awful, you cant really afford to blitz a whole lot, and when you dont blitz, you give opposing QB too much time to throw, thus making a DB's job even harder.

ive never understood why everyone on this board gives our DB's a pass all the time, but picks Haralson and Lawson apart. our OLB play is actually solid when compared to the league average. our DBs are the ones holding this defense back from being great.
Stats are significantly influenced by whether a team is usually ahead or behind. We were usually behind. Therefore our opponents ran more than passed through the balance of the game.
It's a meaningless statistic.. Few teams these days have a single workhorse RB. Most are going with 2 or in some cases even 3 RBs.

The best running defense is the of yards allowed per rushing attempt. The 49ers allowed 3.5 yds average, tied for 2nd best in the league.

In contrast, passing defense allowed 7.4 yds per attempt (Tied for 7th worst) and a completion percentage of 66%, 2nd worst.

exactly, and Charles for 97 yards and Jones for 95 is just pathetic. Dumbest stat of the 2010 season.

We suck

Thats pretty spot on. Its like having the #1 offense but being 15th in pts scored. That 3.5 average is whats really impressive. Especially since we rarely had a lead in many games.
I thought the Cheifs game, both their running backs had over 100 yards rushing????

LOL! You're kidding right? All of that over a joke of an analysis. And our cornerbacks get a pass? You sure? "Why run when you can pass all over us." Pretty sure the entire board could come to agreement on the fact our secondary is awful.

As per the analogy, it does make sense:

1. Our defense as a whole sucks (My analogy: the girl is hideous).
2. It's run defense is good (My analogy: the girl has a vagina).

From the above two points:

3. Just because we have a good run defense doesn't mean our defense is good. (My analogy: just because a hideous girl has a vagina doesn't mean it's a good thing!)

Complete sense is obtained! Hopefully that breakdown helped you understand the simplest of analogies.
