Only if you're simpleminded and naive. A good talent evaluator will find good players for HIS system, every decision they make will reflect what THEY feel is a recipe for success. The question is, is that type of system effective in today's NFL, better yet, does it match the talent and identity of the franchise? We've tried a conservative, defensive philosophy here for 8 years, all you have to do is look at the results. This is a franchise founded on QB-friendly systems that are aggressive and progressive on Offense; this is also what a majority of the good teams in today's league have adopted. You can claim that it's not an issue as long as you can evaluate talent yada yada yada, but you are just being naive thinking like that. With philosophy comes how you prioritize talent.

Great players don't always transition over to being great coaches. Take a look a round the league; the vast majority of NFL coaches (HC, OC and DC) were average players at best. If you think I'm talking out the side of my azz, do some research and you'll find it to be true.

Haha, easy to say hypothetically. When your career and reputation are on the line though i'm sure it makes that much more difficult to pull the trigger on.
