No it isn't.

He's evidently done running against defenses that are any good, at least unless the o-line drastically improves to compensate for his diminishing skills. All of his quality rushing performances this year came against mediocre or terrible rush defenses. And his worst game came against the 5th-worst rush D, TB. He was also completely shutdown by Seattle's mediocre rush D.

I just think we need someone who can run outside of the tackles.
Like a Felix Jones type.

This is one of the worst posts I've ever seen. All he does year in and year out is make big plays on his way to an annual 1,000 yards. He's a two-time pro bowler (woulda been 3 this year) who gets a lot of respect around the league as a top 5 back. You guys seriously under appreciate him. He will be 28 next season, and guys like LT and Thomas Jones are debunking the "30 year old wall" myth. He's got at least 4 more good seasons in him before we need a replacement.

I don't think he's done. He does need a plausible QB threat and some tactical help in order to succeed because he shouldn't be a battering ram anymore.
Would like to see some alignments where he and another HB are in the backfield with multi-receivers; kinda like how Hearst and Barlow shared the backfield in 3 WR sets sometimes.

Yikes, Barlow comparison. I think Dixon would be okay, but wouldn't mind a speedier change of pace guy to compliment Gore. With that said Gore isn't done, he uust needs an occasional breather which Westbrook could have provided if allowed this season.
I am hoping that the next coach doesnt tell dixon to run only where the play is supposed to go... A RB has to be able to run to what he sees....Yes Dixon is a "big back" but that doesnt mean you tell him to only get you 4 yards....Dixon has a rare combination of size and speed and he showcases excellent vision and very good feet for a big man....let him run the way he knows.....Its almost like changing a qb's delivery when it is unorthodox....

Agree. He won't get as many touches under the new coach.

It's a total myth that Thomas Jones is having a good season. He's averaging 3.7 yards a carry, versus 6.4 by Jamaal Charles. It's ludicrous that Jones gets more carries.
Tomlinson did look great early in the season but he's worn down, averaging just 47.9 yards rushing a game, 3.3 per rush, since week 5.

gore's been doubted since his injury-prone college days, that's why he dropped to the third round... and he's obviously doubted today as well...
with that out the way, hell no he's not done!! he's one of our toughest running backs we've ever had in sf so hell no!! boy's got heart n a few more years in him.. LETS GET'EM FRANK!!!

4 more years? No way... Do we need a replacement now, no. But we had better start thinking about it sooner than later.

Tell me this who in the f*ck will replace Frank??
i know u aint thinking of going with Anthony Dixon or resigning Bryan Westbrook
at best these guys are average compare to Gore.......Dixon isnt ready to take over fulltime
Gore is still a elite back when he's healthy if i recall this is the 1st time in his career that he was put on IR
you guys make it seem like he's been on IR for the last few season's
unless we come up on a elite back via trade
Id keep Gore around at least for 1 more season

Heard that before.
