Rivers ranks third in the NFL with a 103.1 quarterback rating, which spells trouble for the Niners secondary if recent history is any guide.
This season, the 49ers have faced three QBs currently ranked among the NFL's top 10 in passer rating -- New Orleans' Drew Brees, Kansas City's Matt Cassel and Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers -- and the results haven't been pretty.
The trio has combined to complete 65 of 95 passes (68 percent) for 802 yards (267.3) with eight touchdowns and no interceptions. Quarterback rating: 122.3.
Instant 49ers

LOL...
look..i realize it was just one game against an injury-ridden WR core, and against a bi-polar QB...
and i know we've been consistently bad in the defensive backfield for a long long time, not just against the league's top passers, but also against mediocre ones...
as pointed out, the DB performance shouldnt be solely attributed to Johnnie's departure, but one can't help to think that it somehow played a role, minor as it might be, in the output we saw sunday
i guess i was a little excited when i was creating the thread
