McNabb and Hasselback are both under contract. In fact the Skins extended(signed) him to a 5 year deal sometime before midseason.

Every Veteran has a home this year and it's not likely that Gruden would be able to wrench them away. NO CBA for cryin out loud. So please take a step back and rethink the Veteran QB piece of your stance. It's not likely to happen. And if reports are true that Gruden wishes to wait until after his son graduates before taking on another Coaching gig, it's not likely that he'll be coaching the 9ers anyway.

The way the Redskins did McNabbs contract makes it so they can cut cut him after the season and not take a hit and espn is reporting as well as many others that they will either cut or trade McNabb after the season. Also Hasselback is a FA.

This has to be one of the more stupid threads, "if Alex takes us to the playoffs and wins one game" are you listening to yourself, the team hasn't beaten a good team for the last few years and making it to the playoffs let alone winning a game in the playoffs would mean they do that which I don't think is possible right now.

Answer: Alex would continue to be hot garbage. Sing bringing Alex back is the equivalent of a hail mary.

It would be incredibly entertaining. But recent evidence doesn't support it.

I'm sure YOU would but fact is, if he gets us into the playoffs and even wins a game, yes we bring him back. We still have to draft a QB with our new HC though but having Smith out there while the rookie learns under a competent HC (hopefully) will not be nearly as bad as it would if we just threw the new Rookie out there, although we are scared he may end up like Alex but remember, Alex had NO TALENT around him and a horrible coaching staff when he was thrown to the wolves. A new competent coach and the talent we have now might not be so bad for the new rook . A playoff wins gets him a new (2 yr) contract in my opinion.
