Well, if the offensive line continues to improve, we could really see a sweep of the rest of our divisional games. And it would be mainly due to offensive line because that is our achilles heel -- it has f**ked EVERY quarterback behind it.

Alex will get some credit also because with time, he's actually pretty good. Unless the pass is 2 feet. Then he will throw it as hard as he can 10 feet too high.

I'm interested to see how it all plays out.

Alex Smith has never won 3 games in a row. Why would it happen now?

I have always said that Alex Smith just needs time to throw the ball. How can he be an affective QB when he is running for his life every play? If the OLine continues to improve I think we can win the remainder of our games to include the Chargers.

I don't think anyone including Tim truly knows the extent of Smith's knowledge. Sure he can be extremely inaccurate at times but same goes for the other QB's on our roster. Haters gon' hate I guess.

No matter what you guys say Alex is still 17-30. Some of those losses can't be pined on him just like Troys last game where the db's kept getting beat deep. But him not putting up points lead to that record. also Handing over 52 picks don't help matters either. Where going into this week two games back with a QB who might or might not win for us, and no matter how things shake out half of us will want him to stay and the other to go.

If we lose badly and he has a really bad game, be ready for all of the Alex fans blame everybody else but him. I just hope like hell that he balls his butt off for us.

I will only respect Alex when he shows he can win the next 4 games then win a playoff game but limiting the amount of terrible decisions and ill advised turnovers.

Many of us have been saying what Kawakami just said in that article for several years - long before he ever wrote it, obviously. Susweel, I believe, was among us. How exactly does that mean he needs to lean on a columnist? It's been said before, just not by a columnist - until now. It really doesn't matter where Kawakami's expertise lies because he's been right about the 49ers for years. People hated on him for all those years because he saw the reality of the situation and wrote about it, while they just wanted to read the optimistic views. Kawakami was consistently among the most hated writers on this forum due to the things he's said, but those things have turned out to be as accurate as it gets. I am one of the few who has been saying this about him from the beginning.

You hate him because he's not writing with his homer goggles on, which is what you want.

Branch are Barrows aren't paid to write their opinions, they're paid to relay information about the team. Kawakami is a columnist with an opinion, not a robotic beat writer. No offense to Branch and Barrows, I enjoy their work, but they cannot be compared to Kawakami because they have different jobs. If the beat writers started writing opinionated columns and said something that people like the guy who keeps referring to susweel as "McLovin" (lame, I know) don't like, then they would refuse to read their pieces and they (the beat writers) would be out of a job. The beat writers will tell you what the team is doing and give you injury updates or information on what the team did during it's practices, etc., but that's generally the extent of their work.

so if Alex comes in and throws for 3 TD's in each of the last 4 games and wins all 4 games and thus taking us to the playoffs you will still think he sucks? What if he takes us to the playoffs and we start winning playoff games? Still suck then?

This was suppose to be Alex breakout year, no excuses etc. but here we are still with excuses and what ifs!
