Again, this offseason is the perfect opportunity for the Yorks to finally get it right.
They have and must be willing to spend tons of money in coaching, period.
As an avid fan for more than 30 years, I begin to really get pissed off at the York's
incompetence.
If they are not willing to take financial hits for a superbowl quality
coach, then there is no sense rooting for a football team that mediocrity is the goal
and loosing mentality runs through the bloodlines of the owners that are pretentious,
always putting a facade, and not willing to admit that they are who they are...
losers! If the owners are losers, then their team will be losers too, period![/left]

Too late for that. 8 straight losing seasons is enough. Hell, 3 was too many. The Yorks will never go out and hire a top notch exec or GM. They've had their chance to do it for 10 years. Yet they settle for scouts like Mcloughan and Baalke, who have no business running a football franchise. And to make it worse, they make the critical decisions. And every one of their decisions have been a disaster. As long as the they own the 49ers, we will continue to be west coast version of the Lions.

IMO, Baalke is pretty good and we should keep him around after Sing is gone to do our scouting, he's regarded as one of the top talent scouts in the league.

The Yorks deserve no more chances. They have been in charge of the team for a decade now and we have all witnesses a complete dismantling of a once proud franchise.
Mark my words, the Yorks will not be able to pull off a highly complicated stadium deal in Santa Clara. They will be left with two options at the time, move the team to a city with a stadium or to sell the team.
The only power us 49er fans have is to boycott the team in hopes of hurting the Yorks financially and forcing them to sell the team.

They keep trying to do it on the cheap. Cheap things are seldom good and good things are seldom cheap.
They don't learn from their mistakes.

It's pointless to complain about the owners. They're not selling and they're not firing themselves.

I still think Mike Brown, Bill Bidwill, and Tom Benson are lousy owners, but with the recent success of the Bengals, Cards, and Saints, you don't hear fans calling for their heads. Winning cures all.

I agree. Time to hire a HC that has proven success at the NFL level who understands what it takes to get the team prepared from week to week. A HC that is capable of making adjustments and doesn't need to "watch film" of a game that he just watched from the sidelines. View doesn't get much better than that does it?
Most reasonable fans on this sight don't have to "watch film" to realize the obvious problems with this team.

An incompetent owner may be able to stumble upon temporary success. The three you mentioned achieved their success by getting lucky at qb. Brees was a decent free agent qb but was definitely no star at the time. Warner was coming off a terrible run with the Giants. Palmer has all the skills of a nfl QB but has yet to be able to sustain a high level play.
Each of those teams have one thing in common. None have been able to achieve any kind of long term success. Long-term success takes strong leadership and a clear direction.
In regards to the 49ers, I do not want the team to get lucky and have a short 2-year playoff run. I want them to become a dominant powerhouse again. I want to go into each season with a Superbowl-or-bust attitude. The Yorks may get lucky one of these seasons, but they will never be able to build a premiere franchise.

Easier said than done. What self-respecting coach will go to work for such a dysfunctional franchise?

Fans are totally screwed. The Yorks are the worst owners in the NFL and will never get it right. Blackouts are in the near future and I could see the team moving someday. Face it people, Jed somehow managed to find someone WORSE THAN NOLAN!!!
