That's an important position. Especially if it's the 2nd string, which is what Carr was when he came here.

3rd stringer.

Yep, the offseason is officially here on the Webzone.
I miss Shaun Hill.

I think Scotty was probably banging someone close to the yorks... And in an evil way picked up Carr and got rid of Hill! EVIL!
Carr needs to be our starter for the next 5 years. Think of all the good players we will get in the draft! First pick in the draft for the next 5 year yeah thats what im talking about. Then after the 5 years we should have like 20 pro bowl caliber players on our team. Then drop Carr and get a real QB we should make the playoffs well maybe????? lol jk
Getting rid of Hill and going with Carr as the backup QB was simply to hand Alex Smith the starting job without question.

Mike Singletary is gone and so will all his QBs from his era. Sux because I wonder if Shaun Hill could have been a decent stop gap for Harbaugh while he grooms whoever he drafts/acquires.

I think Hill would've been the perfect stop gap to groom a new rookie QB. Look at his numbers and turn out in Detroit. Stafford went down with his shoulder injury and Hill stepped right in and put up some wins. Sing said it himself, he didnt want Alex to have any competition, yet Alex still failed miserably.

This will have to go down as perhaps the dumbest coaching decision (and admission) in the history of the NFL. Well, on second thought, there is the hiring of Sing, the hiring of Raye, the....

Well, the Niners have two or three of the Top Ten all time worst decisions and they did it all in one memorable year.

Signing Carr and trading Hill was just another fine example of how incompetent McCloughan really was.
If Shaun Hill wasnt traded and allowed to compete for the starting job during the preseason, we would have made the playoffs. Period.

I live in the Seattle area and Scotty's name never comes up. He is listed on the Seahawks website as the Senior Personnel Executive.

He is either operating in stealth mode, way under the radar, or is in rehab.

that the season is over. this is a sarcastic statement. we shoulda kept shaun hill and got rid of alex but thats for another thread. was signing david carr as backup the most pointless decision by the 49ers staff? david carr only played 2 quarters all season right? we may as well have signed a player that plays a different position with the money carr was paid.

please do us a favor ? SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Woulda coulda shoulda.
