#3? no way! Car Park 3 maybe.
I agree with everyone that he sucks.

But if you read what I wrote you will understand why we could be forced to start him.

If the CBA conflict drags out through the summer and then gets resolved right before the start of the season our only QBs would be Carr and rookies that have never had an NFL practice. We would have to start Carr in that situation.

Hopefully that's not what will happen, but if you follow the CBA news it sounds like it's a VERY likely scenario.
Too bad Carr has no trade value. Troy Smith should be the #3 next year.

Why is this guy still on the roster?

Good question!

Isn't he the only QB that has played in a regular season game under contract for the 2011 season?

Thanks Scott Mcloughan. You were an awesome GM.

It would be highly risky to enter into this off-season with NO QB on the roster at all.

The new CBA would not have prevented us from extending Troy would it?

I thought he was the only QB under contract, period. Unless there's someone on the PS I'm not aware of?

Nope Carr is the only one under contract. Hell we never know, maybe Harbaugh can work some magic with him...............magic? Carr needs a damn miracle

I don't know about what could have been done during the season.

But right now, both Alex Smith and Troy Smith are free agents, and so neither can sign with ANY team (including the 49ers) until there's a new CBA.
Looks like David Carr has future with the team () He is the only QB signed through next season! Yikes somebody better do something! Kolb anyone, or maybe some scrub FA while we look for/ groom the Qb of our future?

Harbaugh is a QB whisperer, a QB Guru's guru...I hope!

I gotta feeling between now and camp we add a few QB's more than on Free Agent and maybe more than one Draft pick, could you see 4 or more Qb's in camp?

No we should have kept Shaun Hill along with Alex Smith and have what ever QB as our number 3 and we would have at least maybe won the Carolina game!!!

And we got next to nothing for him.

He will get cut, Greg Roman was his QB coach in Houston for two years and he had his best season, posting the ever pedestrian ratiing of 82.5. Very similar to Alex's best season :DDDD
To top it off Roman isn't even a QB coach he specializes in the run game lol. There is no reason for Carr to be back next year. Being as realistic as possible we could bring in Bulger as a FA who is leaps and bounds better then Carr comparatively. Younger guys like Dew Stanton(who played pretty damn well this year for the Lions) is a FA, and draft our rookie.
Boom our QB depth chart looks like this
Bulger
Stanton
Rookie

Other younger and more talented options then Carr include Matt Leinart, Matt Moore, Brady Quinn, and Dennis Dixon. We could fill out our QB roster so quickly it would be like Carr was never even here.
EDIT:
Possible trades would include Matt Flynn, Kevin Kolb, and Josh Johnson.
Johnson would be the the logical choice because of his history but Matt Flynn would probably be my favorite choice because the Packers would probably have a lower asking price.

I think he is complaining about the fact that we paid a guy 2 or 3 million on a guy is really a screw up compared to Alex still has time to prove people wrong, and that we could have used it to sign someone else or just saved the money altogether.
