Smith will get a nice contract next year.

Name me 8 teams besides the 49ers that Smith would start on

Browns, Bills, Panthers, Cardinals, Jaguars, and vikings

I can't really thin of any other teams in dire need of a starting QB.
I don't think there is a player in NFL history that has had as many chances as Alex Smith. All this team needs is to go on a winning streak......now.

Alex Smith will be a third stringer, competing for a backup position after this season, if not out of the league. He is hot garbage.

he will be a starter on a team that uses his strengths to their advantage.

lol. OK, perhaps somebody can use JaMarcus's strengths too while were at it

Once again, typical pro Alex garbage.......according to them, bad QB's don't exist...there is only misuse

I think it's more of both that are two different things. There is such a thing as just bad qb's and then qb's that are misused. Now where Smith falls, yeah right I ain't even goin there. Lol
Ill tell you one thing, hes gonna be a pro bowler next year when the Vikings sign him.

he hasnt been a pro bowler in 6 years....
If that is the case, see what you could get for Alex in a trade. That would determine true market value.

A conidtional 7th round pick is all I think the niners could get.

we would have to give up a pick foe someone to take him

Smith will not be a starter in this league. Are you people on crack ? You think teams will overhaul their entire offensive schemes and play the spread cause "Alex likes it" ?

The dude will be a backup at best. In actuality, he'll fade away like Rattay did....and Rattay had some credibility because he played some good games here in SF.
This is comical. Now I can hear all the Smith supporters saying "but Joe Namath said so..."

Please, someone show me Smith's stats out of shotgun and then from behind center. If I recall correctly, this analysis was done last year, and the stats were barely different. Actuallly, I think he threw more INTs out of the spread.

You guys really need to quit saying "he does better out of the spread" if you don't have FACTS to support it. I am not doubting that he does, but if my memory serves me correctly, his stats are no different whether behind center or in the shotgun.

Maybe the Bronws and Bills but not with the Jaguars, and vikings

If he's not here next year, I hope he doesn't go to the Cards. I could see them picking him up. The Cards have witnessed what Smith can do first hand I'm sure they would love to get him and show the 9ers what they weren't able to do with him. That right there would be brutal to our organization and a fat slap in the face.
