those san diego super-chokers ALWAYS seem to spoil the 49ers' perfect 4-0 preseason attempts, so hopefully 3 quarters of Nate Davis ends that.

This has to be the year we beat those guys in the pre-sea, at least. Hopefully we take them out in both our games against them!
The people who are hating on Norris/DWalker are insane.

Norris demolished a LB on Gore's 49 yard run. Do you guys even pay attention to the FB?

DWalker has made plays in 2 straight games now (including key 3rd down conversions vs. the Vikings). I don't even like Walker but it's clear to see why he's on the field...he's a great 2nd TE.

D. Walker is embarrassing to watch.

He had a flat game, it happens to everyone. If that becomes a habit, I'll agree that there's reason to be concerned, but for the time being I see no reason for concern.

D walk has flat moments every game, i like him, but it always pisses me off.

Completely agree. Don't really see how those two guys are weaknesses.

The play-calling has been pretty lame. First play of the game, full back dive? Sure you surprised them, enjoy those 1.5 yards. 3rd and 9 and we have multiple guys running 4 yard routes? But Smith is over coming these things at this point, and without our 2 top receiving threats. Also, too many fb dives in general, that play is averaging like .5 yards. If we're going to waste a down, why not take a deep shot with it?

The secondary... Lets just say we are going to struggle with teams that are built for speed at the WR position. Our secondary was built to counter the big physical receivers like Fitz and Boldin, and will continue to be solid against those types of guys. When we are playing teams with speed guys out there though, we are gonna have to score some points on offense. Hopefully someone on our coaching staff realizes this and doesn't come out with totally conservative game plans against these teams. We cannot allow this team to get down by 3 scores at halftime like happened too often last year.

I think the reason for the FB dives are more for evaluation and learning than actual game strategy. Raye and Sing are wanting to see the O-line get a push and use leverage. It helps later in the film room when they watch themselves, there's not much clutter and it's easy to see what's happening.

One of the anouncers either this game or last game pointed out that last year the niners had more full back runs than any team in the league. That is a stat I don't understand when you don't really have a running full back and you have a half back like Gore. To me it just seems that Raye is a bit of a Dinosaur and remembers the good old days when running with the fullback was common. Full back dives on 3rd and inches are acceptable playcalls. Full back dives on 1st and 10 just mean 2nd and 9 is coming.

Perhaps last year's line wasn't all that physical so they feel the need to have a bigger full back to get that extra push. Hopefully with the addition of Davis and Iupati it doesn't matter who's running to get that last yard cause the line can get that for us.

Yep definitely it seems jimmy raye need to be slapped every once in a while and he thinks this is the 1980's. There are times he call some good plays and there are times that he is calling the same stupid plays. I don't get him. He is so inconsistent..

I love Nate Clements, but I think he needs to take a pay cut next offseason, hes definitely lost a step, but I love how physical he is and thats a big part of why hes still going to be on this team next year, because of his physicality

We also overrated Dixon after his 1st game, hes been less impressive in these last 2 games, but hes still a rookie.

actually watch the highilight of the murphy TD, Clements was staying with Heyward-Bey pretty well.

Actually, on the touchdown it was Tarell Brown who stayed with Heywood-Bey pretty well. Clements blitzed. On the Niner broadcast they were saying it looked like Smith expected Murphy to stop his route because of that blitz, but Clements didn't get there, and Murphy didn't cut the route short; Smith lost a half step trying to jump the route and by then was hopelessly out of position! The replay made it look like maybe he expected safety help from Goldson over the top, but Sing's reaction on the sideline made it pretty clear that wasn't the case!

It's these small details that are the difference between starters and reserves, winners and losers, roster spots and jobs at Home Depot!

On the Zach Miller touchdown, Michael Lewis was physically beat. I think we're all hoping Smith shows enough to ultimately replace Lewis. But when he makes mental errors it makes it easy to see why Lewis keeps his spot!
Big Dix needs to pound the hole hard and faster.

IMO every other player on offense has more value than Walker. I also feel that given a season, Bynam could be more of a mismatch, as he seems to be a good receiver, but is also a good blocker. Walker is a heavy receiver in reality which makes teams scared to use a DB to cover him, but DB's can and do indeed cover him.

I like Walker, but don't see the value that everyone else seems to. He has a tendancy to not make the play when we reeealy need him to.
