Kentwan Balmer is on his way to the 49ers facility to meet with Mike Singletary. Said Balmer ...

Balmer declined to talk about the personal issue that has kept him out of camp the last 3 days, saying only that it was ongoing.

The only reason he was a one year wonder at NC was because his coach told him that he wouldn't be drafted if he didn't show something his senior season. He turned up the temp and was drafted then went back to sitting on his a$$. He did just enough to keep from getting cut outright. These a$$holes who could be really good and they throw it away make me want to puke on them.

Really? Is that why he spends his offseason's working out with Justin Smith?

I dont know about you guys, but I see Balmer as an asset to our great deffensive line we got here. No way he starts ahead of Smith, and Soap is perfect for what this DL needs, and what is asked to do. How can Balmer start with these mamoths in front of him? Look what we have here is depth on the DL. I'm OK with that, nobody can label him a bust if he cant start ahead of a pro bowler and a 3-4 vet in Soap.

Would Rodgers been considered a bust because he wasnt starting ahead of Farve for three years in GB?

Now if he gets cut, then thats another story, but I am seeing the glass as half full here.
lol i like how theres this big uproar over Balmer being missing from camp for 4 days. hes like 3rd string, and has never done anything at the NFL level yet. i bet they couldve said nothing about him being missing, and it wouldve taken at least until week 8 for anyone to notice he was gone.

he can skip camp as long as he wants, his job as head Gatorade fetcher is easily replaceable.

The 49ers have canceled the workout for DE Will Tukuafu, an indication that Kentwan Balmer may have smoothed things over with the 49ers ...
smoothed over ... ooo lala
This is truly a strange case.
Here's the real bummer.

The 49ers' Kentwan Balmer hasn't paid the dividends of the five other current defensive ends taken in the top 50 in the 2008 draft:

-- Chris Long, 2nd pick, St. Louis: 83 combined tackles, 9.0 assists in 32 games

-- Derrick Harvey, 8th pick, Jacksonville: 76 combined tackles, 5.5 sacks in 32 games

-- Lawrence Jackson, 28th pick, Seattle: 61 combined tackles, 6.5 sacks in 32 games

-- Kentwan Balmer, 29th pick, 49ers: 19 combined tackles, no sacks in 27 games.
-- Phillip Merling, 32nd pick, Miami: 59 combined tackles, 3.5 sacks in 32 games.

-- Calais Campbell, 50th pick, Arizona: 76 combined tackles, 7.0 sacks in 32 games

He needs the Niners more than they need him. He's playing the fool now.

Another bad indication of Scott b/c Jackson, Merling and Campell are all playing pretty well and were guys who made strides late last season and took over as legit starters. .

Is it fair to compare a d-linemen stats who plays for a 3-4 vs a 4-3 ?

3-4 guys take up space for LB's to make most of the tackles, right?

And who would you guys want Balmer to replace? Justin Smith? Soapoaga? Franklin? Really why do you want him to replace these guys? With these three, we have a top 5 D unit here. Why do we want to mess up that chemistry?

Soapoaga. I get what your saying, but we could use some more playmaking at LE.
