Gore and Smith must be so excited. Davis and Iupati will absolutely plow through defenders for Gore and they'll form an impenetrable fortress for Smith.

Solari is a terrific O-line coach and I do think our O-line would have improved if we do not draft Davis and Iupati but facts are facts; Adam Snyder is a backup. He is not a starter in the NFL. Baas has shown some flashes but he has been way to inconsistent and also injury prone. I think the fact we have a good O-line coach in Mike Solari made the team that much more comfortable investing two first round picks in offensive lineman as they know Solari (and Ray Brown and Singletary) will get the most out of these two talented and soon to be highly paid offensive lineman.
I am excited to see what Solari and Ray Brown can do with not only Mike Iupati and Anthony Davis but also Chilo Rachal who obviously struggled last year but he does have a lot of talent and I believe Solari and Brown will get the most out of Rachal.
I never thought I would get fired up about an offensive, esspecially ours but I really think our O-line can be very good to great. I do think they may struggle a bit early on as they are learning a new blocking scheme and we could have two rookies in the starting lineup. But comes November and December and hopefully January, I think the O-line will be a strength on the team and I have not been able to say that for a long time.

We were 8-8 last year. A Brett Favre prayer and Arnaz Battle fumble from 10-6, division winners and playoff team. All with the worst offensive line in football. Even if our o-line is middle of the pack this year...............

My answer is, "yes," there is a link. A good coach will teach a player to dominate and be in good position so there is less risk of injury. Although there are freak accident injuries, most injuries result from a breakdown in technique with a player trying to do something they shouldn't. Another important factor is the level of coordination and skill between players. When all are playing well, there are fewer breakdowns resulting in injuries.
During the McKittrick years the 49er OL was quite healthy. I don't remember any particular stats but I do recall there were very few times they had extended loss of PT due to injury.

I don't get excited anymore about anything done in the off season.
Because over the years, the 49ers could have hired anyone and there would be all kinds of hype and what not about him.
Until I see the improvement on the field, I'm neutral over any new hires.

As far as the OP goes, I think you have to give the strength and conditioning coaches some credit for getting the players in shape and even more difficult, keeping them strong and injury free throughout the season.
As many here know, peak conditioning is easier to achieve when your not dealing with common football injuries on a constant basis. Seattle is a prime example of this.

Somewhat the same. Good draft - much better than recent years. But... the proof is in the pudding.
Anthony Davis big dude, but has he ability to learn?
The Steam Rollin Samoan inspires confidence in me. Hope the 49ers stock up on poi

I would also say having a good O-Line coach is the most important position coach on a football team. We really lucked out getting Solari who IMO is one of the 10, maybe 5 best O-line coaches in the NFL. He alone would of made a difference with our current O-line but adding talented players like Anthony Davis and Mike Iupati to our O-line; I can see us having one of the best offensive lines as early as 2011. Also love the hire of Ray Brown as assistant O-Line coach.
Great post! I think Solari & Ray Brown are gonna be very important to the season.

Do not forget strength and conditioning, that goes a good ways to preventing injuries too. Our line has been a big bunch of soft pussies the past few years, getting pushed back into the backfield immediately or just thrown to the side. Hopefully the Solari/Brown combo can make men out of these players.

Seriously.
What I get from that article was that Solari was very lucky in terms of the health of his oline. Players not getting injured has little to nothing to do with their oline coaching.

Must give kudos to the folks who hired Solari and Brown. That would be Singletary and...Scotty Mac? Hmmm.
Don't you know that it's forbidden to say the names of ex-49er personnel unless you're trashing them in NT? It's actually a requirement of ToS to join the Zone. If you didn't read it I suggest that you contact the mods and request a copy so you won't make that mistake again. lol
I don't know bout you all, but I liked the hiring of Solari/Ray Ray. Ray has the playing knowledge to communicate anything that Solari will teach to these BIG UGLIES(I love this nickname, BIG UGLIES is so fun to say)up front.

Singletary wanted Solari, not McC. Sing said in his job interview that Solari was the first name he brought up as an asst coach he would want to hire.
