So this is just Jerry's board. As MadDog said, teams rate players differently within each round. Sure the Cowboys may have chuckled but the Dolphins weren't laughing AT ALL since they shopped their pick heavily and obviously found a buyer. The Dolphins may have though no one would think they would consider another OT and expected to take Davis before the 49ers.
You only trade OUT of the 1st round below the top 10 because you don't value remaining picks at where you are. If anything because of salary investment, teams COVET mid-1st round picks. COVET - unless there's a good reason not to be. Apparently the Dolphins had one.... I personally the 49ers gave them one.
That makes sense, but none of us know for sure they weren't planning to trade the pick regardless. Just because they did it after we selected Davis doesn't mean they were intending on drafting him. Teams usually don't execute a trade until they are on the board and if they wanted him that badly, who's to say they wouldn't have trade UP to get him when word broke of the 11th pick being on the block?
All this picture proves, to me, is Dallas was NOT targeting Davis. I don't believe Miami was, either, due to what I just said about them not trading UP, knowing a team like ours was targeting a tackle and had the ammo to make the deal. That, and the fact they have Jake Long and probably wouldn't want to pay another high-priced, high-pick tackle.
I could care less where Dallas had these guys ranked. The only interesting thing is the proof of them not planning to take Davis in the 1st, as many here would have liked to continue believing.
sigh. OK one more time. The complaint about this trade is a criticism of management, ie it was a waste of a pick.
Did management have good grounds for believing that Dallas or Green Bay might trade up? I would say yes.
Was this pick crucially important to us? It would appear that they believe Davis to be a very significantly better prospect than Bulaga and streets ahead of the rest.
Is this a position of need? Yes, would be the short answer.
So, faced with the possibility of losing their top pick, they threw in a 4th to secure him. Wasn't it Baas where we ended up getting pipped and having to take a very poor second best?
I aaplaud
Forget it English. You can't argue with the logic if we got someone they didn't want. If they wanted Bulaga and Bulaga went past our picks and picked by someone else as it happened then people here will whine about the wasted pick.
I completely agree though if we would have had to take someone that we didn't want that would have been alot worse than losing the 4th round pick. I know Baalke said that they "knew" that 11 and 12 weren't going to take a Tackle, but when we picked Davis, Miami JUMPED right out of 12. It wouldn't have surprised me to see parachute silks pop out their doors. That's how quick it happened.
So to me, it was ballsy of Baalke to make that move. Instead of someone swooping in and taking him we did the swooping and taking. Was it worth a 4th? If we took him just in time it was more than worth it. If he doesn't pan out then in hindsight it wasn't worth it. But it's too freakin early to make that distinction imho.

Read my post. I didn't say sh*t about Bulaga or the lost pick and I never said I didn't want Anthony Davis. So where do you get off questioning my logic? All I said was Dallas wasn't taking him and I don't think Miami was, either. You might wanna READ the posts in question before you indirectly respond to them like a fool.
And like I said, you have no idea if Miami "JUMPED" out of the 12 spot because Davis was off the board or if they had intended on trading it regardless. Trades generally happen WHEN THE TEAM IS ON THE CLOCK, in case you haven't noticed, because the team trading FOR the pick wants to be sure their guy is still there. So when exactly did you expect them to trade their pick if that was their intention? 2 or 3 picks before theirs came up? Yeah right. Assuming they traded because ANY PLAYER wasn't there is 100% speculation. If they really wanted Anthony Davis, knowing we would probably take him and have the means to move up, WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST MOVE UP ONE SLOT AND SECURE HIM? Your logic isn't any better than anyone else's. It never is.
As for how "fast fast fast" the trade was made, who cares? That proves NOTHING. If Miami wanted out of that pick, they would have been calling for potential trade partners and would have had one set up by the time they got on the clock. Just because they didn't wait 7 minutes to announce it doesn't mean they did it because Davis wasn't there. On top of that, if they weren't planning on trading the pick, then how the hell was the trade made so "fast fast fast?"
The feel I get from your posts is that of false knowledge and supremacy along with a smugness that is completely unwarranted. You dismiss anything not cooperating with your logic.
