If we only had a real QB this team could be special.
Susweel, stop clowning. Alex is absolutely a real QB. There are maybe 4 or 5 QB's who would play better on this team (=more wins).
Alex ain't elite but he's is definitely above average and is amazingly efficient.
What he has done with this OL has been nothing short of spectacular. Brady, Manning, Rogers and Brees are the only guys I would FOR SURE take over Alex if I needed to win a game with our team. I would consider a few others (Big Ben, Rivers, Schaub) but Alex Smith is as efficient as those guys and behind our s**t-stained offensive line, there's no telling how those guys would perform here. I don't care about my QB passing for 400 yards a game if he's not helping my team win.
I agree. He is really a coach behind center and seem to have a real grasp of what's going on within the offense and on the field. I'd much rather have an efficient game manager than an gutsy, gunslinger who will throw a couple picks.

Two Pro Bowlers!
Is Andy Lee locked up for a few years? I feel like I remember the niners giving him an extension.... or was that in my dreams?

This.
He's making good decisions and getting the ball into the hands of his playmakers. I agree, the Lions game was a bit ugly and he threw some bad balls, but if this is Alex's "bad game" we are f**king money for the rest of the year. He played just poorly enough to win our 3rd early east coast start in a row versus a team that was previously undefeated. Most of the props go to the defense for the Lions game, but Alex still had to do his part!

Thats good to know. But he needs to be locked up thereafter. I don't care if he's overpaid. His punting pushes back the opposing team enitre offensive serires.

If we had GInn in '09 we would have gone AT LEAST 11-5.

For years -- Andy Lee was the only bright spot on this team. Now he's just one of many shining stars.
I will agree that Ted Ginn is having an absolute monster year. He gives us that home run threat we've been missing for the better part of a decade. He's a threat to take it to the house on every return. And if he doesn't score, he usually puts us in GREAT field position.

played well in the pass game today, I'm not used to seeing him catch many passes, although he culd have done without that pass that lead to the INT

He also could have done without the near disaster on the punt he let go at the last second.

Look.
I still think Ginn is an invaluable asset to this team. His big returns all year long have helped out so much in the field position battle. I still very strongly feel he needs to be signed to a long-term deal as the special teams dynamo that he is.
That being said, why the hell do you bother putting him in offense to catch the football? The whole universe already knows he sucks at that. Use the man for reverses, use the man as a decoy, dump off a short screen to him (2 yards or less), but for the love of God, don't throw to him downfield!
In fact, I'm not even sure you want to put him on offense, period. Why risk him getting hurt? I know you want to get the most out of every roster spot, but he is so damn important to the special teams that I'm not sure I would chance it. Not to mention that he sucks on offense. Ugh. lol.
Like I said though, pay the man. We still need him.

I agree we seriously need to lock him up he's one of the best return guys in the league. His so sure handed with his punts too which is ironic. We always have great field position

I know its kind of a joke but just give Kyle Williams more shots lol. I keep hearing about how Ginn is such a fantastic practice player which is great and all, but we damn well know it doesn't work out on Sundays.
