This post is like an article...long. I just don't have the ability to page it. I hope you are patient enough to read it. (Seriously, what else are you here at the Zone but to find something worth reading, right?). It is a bit long, but I will cut the paragraphs shorter. If need be, take a break between the "Thank Yous"...lol. Thank you, Dr. John York!!!!!! Whoa, Tico. Turkey again? Nah, just hear me out... Jed York's father made the decision to place his son into the role of owner and its only paying huge dividends each time a part of our glorious past comes back to assist this team in anyway they can to become World Champions again. Jed, in a short amount of time, leads the charge on the NFL field. From the top, he exudes his mission upon the organization, the personnel division, the team, and administration... all go hand in hand. Now, Jed's goal of a SuperBowl comes from so many different fronts. A stadium proposal finally heads the top of his list where his uncle, our beloved Eddie D., offered his services to help his nephew, keeping it in the family: "Former owner Eddie DeBartolo said it does not matter where the 49ers wish for a new stadium to be built, as long as it’s in the Bay Area. He said he plans to assist in the 49ers’ stadium campaign in Santa Clara. He recently offered his services to his nephew, 49ers president Jed York. 'I watch them every week,” DeBartolo answered when asked how closely he follows the 49ers. “I talk to Jed, and I’m keeping tabs on the referendum. Actually I just told Jed no more than 45 minutes ago that I’d be happy to come out and help them any way I can. I guess I’ll do that in May sometime.'"--Yahoo.com, Team Report Doesn't that feel good? Seriously, how many times during the John York debacle we wish for the past to save us? Well, this is but one example of that glorious past smiling on this new management. Here's another. Steve Young and Jerry Rice both said they want to help this team where Steve already stated he's going to call Alex this offseason. Whoa! Steve is perfect for this as his passion and love for the game will certainly rub off on Alex. The other thing is that Steve has been itching to get back some how. This is HIS opportunity, too: "Former 49ers Steve Young and Jerry Rice(notes) said they would be more than willing to share their knowledge with the players of today. In fact, Young said he planned to call quarterback Alex Smith in the offseason to see if he can be of any assistance. Young did not become the 49ers’ starter until he was 30 years old. Now we have two former players as coaches in Rathman and Brown especially Brown because we fans have endured the agony of watching poor OL play for some time. He and Solari can make huge improvements on this line while taking one or two rooks under their wing to mold for the future, or even next season. The past is finally here, knocking on the door saying, "Can we help?" Some are on our staff. Some are wanting to volunteer. Some just want to get back in the game with their love for our team. We couldn't be more blessed this off-season. If Jerry and Steve come back, what about Ronnie, too? They all still have strong roots in SF. Those roots will only solidify the foundation that Jed created as soon as he took over as Owner/CEO. He again is the reason why we are moving in this direction. Nope, ironically, Dr. John York is the reason. Who would have thought, huh? Now, we are on the verge of making a playoff run. In personnel, OL and Return Specialist(RS) as a KR/PR are the top two needs. What is amazing is that we have a great chance to satisfy those needs in the first three picks of the 2010 draft! Take a peek in the Draft Forum and you will see what I am talking about with CJ. Spiller, Brian Bulaga, Anthony Davis, Trent Williams, Mike Iupati, Dexter McCluster, Perrish Cox, or even Jacob Ford...Google them, you will be happy you did. In that light, that rook RT will have the Solari/Brown team to mold him. The other RS rook will have our new ST Coach, Shotty, to develop him, too. You can't ask for a better situation! Here's another thought, we were but a few handful of plays away from being in the playoffs even with our deficiencies. One part of our team, the ST unit, contributed to two of those. Coach, thank God, already knows just how important that unit is and went out to grab a coach to mold his vision for the squad with Shotty: "Not only did the 49ers rank last in the league in average yardage on punt return, they also had difficulty accomplishing the simple task of just fielding the ball. Two turnovers on punt returns were pivotal plays in two losses, as the 49ers finished the season with an 8-8 record. Coach Mike Singletary said he understands the importance of special teams. “Some of the things we’ll do this offseason will reflect that,” Singletary said. One top priority for the team in the coming months is to acquire a dependable to explosive specialist to handle punt and kickoff returns. We have longed for the taste again of the Playoffs. I believe this will be our year. I believe that Jed will bring greatness back using his influential past to lead the way. Finally, a York mends the bridge of our 20 year dominance in the NFL bringing us five SuperBowls. Two Yorks don't make a right? Well, this time it does. Dad finally got it right! Once the season starts I dont want these debbie downers to all of a sudden change the color of their panties. We will be in the playoffs this upcoming season.

The chicken little guys are always going to concentrate only on the bad and never acknowledge anything positive that happens with the team. Some people just have that mentality and probably enjoy whining and b***hing.

I'm sorry I can't do it this year......

I bleed red and gold, but I am not a blind follower either..

I have watched the Great Montana years, the very good Young years, the good Garcia years... Cheered when it was viable and hung my head when the heart was broken and even shed tears in the 1990 NFC Championship game... :(

In 2006 I drank the Kool-Aide.. Coming off a 4-12 season, we won early, got stick in a mid-season rut, and finished strong. Along with everyone else, I believed the play-offs where inevitable. Only to see us go 5-11 in 2007. 2008 came and we did the same.. We won early, got into a bad mid-season rut, fired our coach and gave the keys to Singletary. We finished strong, 7-9, just like in 2006... Then 2009 came, once again I drank the Kool-Aid and again we did the same.. We won early, mid-season rut, finished strong but this time, no 7-9, only 1 game better at 8-8...

Sorry, this is not a play-off team until we get in and win a play-off game. Period! I refuse to drink that drink again.. I will root my ass of for them, I will be watching the scouting combines, reading all the online Mock Drafts, draft analysis and what not.. I'll be watching the draft. watching all the off-season stuff, the OTA's and everything I can wrap my self around 49ers!!

But we are not a play-off team right now....

But we are not a play-off team right now....

The problem is not that we are not a playoff team, the problem is that we are not a playoff organization. Two very different concepts. After 6 free agent classes and 6 drafts for McClueless, in a division this horrendous, we should be a playoff team by default next year. People, like the original poster, are confusing this "every dog has its day" moment with actual quality.... with actually building something to be proud of.

As long as we continue to grab our leadership off the short bus.... as long as a york is involved with this team.... as long as McClueless is allowed to stumble through another press conference.... as long as unimaginative sideshows like Singletary are kept on the sidelines solely for the purpose of appeasing the PC generation.... WE are completely screwed

Let me hear an "Amen!"
