All people talk about is sacks, sacks, sacks. There is so much more for a lineman then just SACKS. When u look at what he does to make the peoples job around him better then yes he does deserve all the love he's startin to get now.

Justin Smith is good, but there is no way he is the team MVP. VD and Willis were easily the most important players this past season.

lol Patrick Willis' big year was due in large part TO Justin Smith. his play opened the tackle opportunities for the ILB's.

and VD isnt even in the top 5 for team MVPs. yes, he had almost 1000 yds and 13 td's, however he was a poor run and pass blocker this year, led the NFL in penalties for non OL offensive players, and also led the league in dropped passes. basically, if he didnt catch 13 TD's, he wouldve been one of the biggest liabilities at the TE position in the NFL.

its a close call between Smith and Willis, but i agree that Smith should get it. he did more for the D than anyone else did. look at his QB pressures. 44! thats a mile better than any pass rusher in the entire NFL, besides DeMarcus Ware's 56. led his position in QB hits too with 16, and was top 3 in sacks as well.

You can argue for all of them, but Justin Smith deserves more than a mention. Anyone who doesn't think he deserves team MVP doesn't know what his responsibilities are, period.

the guy is the Energizer Bunny. He plays at 2000mph constantly. If everyone on the team did that we'd be in the playoffs.

If everyone on the team did that we'd be Super Bowl champions, and that's not a joke.
at least we're arguing over multiple team MVP candidates

back then Lee or Nedney were our team MVP's

and opposing left tackles...well maybe not...

whats ridiculous is, he literally outpeformed every other DE in the NFL this year, and the majority of the country has no idea who he is. hes a pro bowl 2nd alternate, which is a joke. he should be starting. hopefully somehow he gets a spot.

Justin Smith is awesome
just to put this in perspective, pro football focus does a stat ranking system that combines every important facet to a players game, per position, and comes up with a number that represents just how good overall that player was in a single season.

Justin Smith came out of 2009 with a "40.0" score. which is the HIGHEST score of ANY player at ANY position in the entire NFL this season outside the position of QB. these are the top 10 non-QB scores from the entire NFL:

1. Justin Smith 40.0

2. Joe Thomas 35.2

3. Patrick Willis 32.6

4. Dwight Freeney 32.4

5. Lamarr Woodley 31.0

6. DeMarcus Ware 30.6

7. Jahri Evans 29.4

8. Darelle Revis 28.5

9. Nick Mangold 28.0

10. Trent Cole 27.8

and yes, pro football focus is a legit, purely statistical and fact based web team that painstakingly records all NFL stats and numbers.

TWO of the top THREE players play on the 49ers defense! thats insane. there IS hope for this team guys.
Justin Smith was awesome this year. Looking at the numbers saw Ray McDonald did ok also yet it is Dockett who is near the bottom going to the pro bowl.

Just another example why the pro bowl game is a joke

ive been contemplating buying a Justin Smith jersey as my next one. already have Wilis, Gore, Crabtree, and Alex Smith. its either going to be VD, Justin Smith, or Manny Lawson.

WOW! What a great signing J.Smith was! IMO he is the best all around DL in the entire NFL. Not just DE but entire DL regardless of whether your talking 3-4 or 4-3. He benefitted alot by Nolan leaving, Sing let him play his position and he's the best at it.

yeah but if you watch actual card games, you know that dockett is a monster. he was the only guy out there being a pain in the ass on that monday night game we had against them
