Why is there no hype about Willis DPOY

His stats this year back it up. Leading the league in takles (no small feat considering he's one of 2 mlb's in a 3-4), 4 sacks, 3 FF, 2 ints with one TD. If he stays at the top of the takles list and maybe gets one more sack or INT, I really think he has to be a finalist.

Especially scince this year there are no other clear favorites. No reduculous sack or pick numbers and there are no DT's that takes over games. I heard Jared Allen's name earlier on in the season but he has cooled off, and now two names that are being tossed around are Charles Woodson/Darren Sharper. They are both great players, and granted they are both on better, playoff bound teams, but neither lead the league in the stat they are known for (both have 8 ints, league leading is 9) and Willis's numbers are all around much more impressive.

Do I think Willis will win it? Probably not. Do I think he should. Of corse (but then again I'm a fan.) All I really hope is that he gets gets discussed as one of the main candidates so in future years when he anchors a top 5 defense and puts up numbers like these he actually will get it.

The reason why Willis makes all those tackles is because the D is on the feild for most of the game. I dont think a guy who got the green dot duty taken away from him should win the award.

Taking away the green dot has nothing to do with how good of a defensive player is.
And the niners are right in the middle of the pack at 17th in the league for TOP.

Thats a retarted argument. Patrick Willis plays better without the mic and isnt ready for that role just yet.. The guy is LITERALLY in every single play!

That being said Daryl Revis is prob gonna win it..

I feel he deserves it too. He is, as they say, a BEAST. The guy is ceratinly our defensive MVP and possibly our team MVP since our defense is the strength of the team. Add that to the stats listed above and he should be right up there in discussions.

Wow seriously? You're talking negatively about Patrick Willis? He's made incredible plays this season. Just last game, he had that stop on a Cardinals receiver right at the goal line. The receiver was literally inches away from breaking the plane when Willis laid down the hit. And it's not like that was an isolated incident, Willis has been making plays like that all season. Also, the D is on the field so much? The Niners had the ball for 37 minutes last game. That means the D was on the field for 23 minutes. The week before that, it was just about even (28 to 32), the week before that it was even (30-30). The one game the D was on way too much was against Green Bay. Other than that it's been pretty even.

he should be in the conversation, but even a superstar LB has trouble standing out on a D that has been inconsistent for a losing team.
